Project accountant - 2 positions

The project accountant will be responsible for:

  • Result 1 – Running the bookkeeping, including:
    • Administers and maintains the project financial system in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Manages books, invoices, income, expenses and funds for the projects in different bookkeeping systems;
    • Checks purchase invoices, verifies signatures; and books them.
    • Maintains beneficiaries’ lists and check services delivered.
    • Contributes to the preparation of the periodic financial reports to donors, and monthly financial reports to project managers and country director;
    • Provides financial data for the preparation of trimester financial reports and annual report;
    • Answers questions from project managers and director regarding the financial figures of the projects
  • Result 2 – Monitoring the financial sheets, including:
    • Fills the monitoring sheets and hand it to project manager and financial manager on monthly basis.
    • Monitors the financial sheets from the partner organisation (in case of subcontracting) by checking the budget and the expenditure documents.
    • Issues payments for the partner NGO if needed.
    • Contributes in providing financial statements
  • Result 3 – Preparing the cash flow of the project
  • Result 4 – Participating in different tasks and taskforces, including:
    • Join special taskforces to be able to innovate and improve the work;
    • Available to support projects’ staff members when required.
    • Audit other projects financially if requested.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Good command of English and Arabic in both speech and writing
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in accounting
  • Knowledge of the current (administrative) rules and regulations for the financial administration;
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of technical tax and fee and skill in the ability to apply it;
  • Ability to work with automated systems and excellent skills in Excel
  • Knowledge of the current (administrative) rules and regulations for the financial administration;
  • As Syria is a challenging country, candidate must have ability to cope with stressful, delicate and possibly unstable situations. Applicants need to be able, flexible and work well under pressure;
