Project Manager/ Syria

1. Project Management

• Plan project implementation together with support of the project team
• Manage project budget and resources and update planning documents
• Report on status of implementation of activities
• Monitor & control project quality, team performance – adjust planning based on results

 2. Team Management

• Recruit project team according to project design, budget availability and project needs
• On-boarding of new team members
• Day to day guidance of the project team
• Monitor team performance

 3. Contractor Management

• Develop ToR for contractors / consultants
• Participate in selection of contractors / consultants
• Supervise work of contractors / consultants

4. Capacity Building & Knowledge sharing

• Mentor & coach individual team members based on needs
• Monitor implementation of local partners and give or organise capacity building support dependent on gaps

Scope and Accountability 

• The Project Manager is leading the project team. He reports to the country director. 

Knowledge and skills:

• BSc or MSc degree in humanitarian aid and/or rural development or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian aid, preferably in an international or large local non-governmental organization (INGO);
• Excellent command of English in both speech and writing;
• Strong knowledge of (institutional) donors and their requirements, especially OFDA, ECHO
• Strong knowledge of project cycle management;
• Communication skills both verbally and in writing;
• Knowledge of cultural differences in working and negotiating;
• Basic command of Arabic in speech;
• Planning, monitoring and evaluation skills;
• Pro-active and hands-on attitude and ability to improvise;
• Knowledge of the UN cluster coordination system;
• Adherence to the mission and vision of Dorcas;
