PROJECT OVERVIEW

ECODIT is implementing the USAID Lebanon Diverting Waste by Encouraging Reuse and Recycling (DAWERR) Activity, a five-year project that will establish sustainable and replicable integrated solid waste diversion and valorization solutions in different rural areas in Lebanon, leading to improved social and economic well-being for Lebanon’s population.  Working concomitantly with municipalities, local communities and the private sector, the Project will (1) develop sustainable composting value chains for organic waste, and strengthen existing recycling value chains (RVCs) for inert recyclable materials in select municipalities serving as pilots initially, and then support replication by other municipalities across Lebanon building on lessons learned from the pilots; and (2) implement integrated Solid Waste Management (SWM) solutions for unions or clusters of municipalities.  

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall management of the Supply Chain & Grants Specialist, the Driver will:

  • Transport staff in a safe and responsible manner when and where required by project needs.
  • Use the project vehicle in a manner consistent with ECODIT policies and procedures.
  • Maintain project vehicle, including washing and cleaning, as well as routine maintenance such as fueling; checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and other vehicle items.
  • Ensure availability of complete vehicle tools, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit in the vehicle at all times.
  • Plan and ensure that periodical vehicle maintenance and/or repairs are timely completed and insurance is timely renewed.
  • Ensure periodical mandatory mechanical inspections are conducted on time, and mechanical fees are settled within the deadlines.
  • Assist in other office work such as dispatch and delivery of official letters, follow up with the courier and post services (when required), submission of tax/NSSF declarations (when required), cheque and cash deposit, and withdrawal from the bank.
  • Maintain an up-to-date driver log book, including a record of mileage driven, fuel consumed, and servicing done.
  • Report all accidental damage to the vehicle or any other security situation that might arise as soon as possible to the Manager.
  • Assist in small procurement like getting quotations and purchase of office supplies (grocery, stationary, training materials...), simple maintenance and repairs needed for the office, and similar services (when required).
  • Receive and collect goods requested on behalf of the supply chain department when required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Lebanese Driving License.
  • Several years of professional driving experience.
  • Experience of a minimum of one year in the field of Logistics is a plus.
  • Work experience of a minimum of one year in a similar position in an NGO.
  • Experience/instinct for reacting in emergency and security situations.
  • Basic car maintenance knowledge.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of local areas in Lebanon and familiarity with GPS systems (like Google Maps).
  • Autonomy and Flexibility.
