Extracurricular Activities Manager

Project Description: Developing Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement (D-RASATI) will improve educational outcomes in Lebanon by improving teacher and student performance, increasing community and parental involvement, and improving the school learning environment.  D-RASATI is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Extracurricular Activities Manager is critical to the successful implementation of the D-RASATI subcomponent “Extra-curricular Activities Expanded at Intermediate and Secondary Schools.” Extra-curricular activities occur in a variety of ways and through a variety of means. D-RASATI will work with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) on institutionalizing extracurricular activities in a manner that ensures sustainability. D-RASATI will support the systems and provide the tools necessary for institutionalization and capacity building at the MEHE central, regional, and school levels. The implementation stages will be supported throughout by D-RASATI. Position Description: : AMIDEAST is seeking an Extracurricular Activities Manager. S/he will manage the D-RASATI Extracurricular Activities Team, working closely with other project partner sand with MEHE. As a member of the D-RASATI senior team, the Extracurricular Activities Manager works closely with the Component Leader and other senior team members to ensure that the extra-curricular activities are an integral piece of the holistic implementation of the D-RASATI project and thus support the overall objective of improving learning outcomes. S/he will be responsible for designing and planning for proposed approaches and interventions.  S/he will also be responsible for sound management and oversight of the implementation of approved activities at the central and school levels. The Extracurricular Activities Manager, in her/his capacity as technical manager,  is responsible for the technical design, planning, and oversight of the Extracurricular Activities subcomponent in conjunction with the Component Leader for Improved Academic Achievement.  S/he also engages with designated counterparts in the MEHE to ensure the required coordination and progress of the subcomponent. S/he has primary responsibility for overseeing the planning and implementation of all activities related to the subcomponent, including supervision of subcomponent staff and/or consultants, and working closely with the M&E Director to track the subcomponent’s ability to meet its objectives.  The Extracurricular Activities Manager is also responsible for reporting on and communications related to the subcomponent for AMIDEAST and for D-RASATI. The Extracurricular Activities Manager will conduct all activities under the supervision of and reports to the Deputy Chief of Party and to the AMIDEAST Country Director. Desired Qualifications: Significant experience in the field of education, with particular emphasis on promoting improved learning outcomes for middle and secondary students Experience in designing, leading, and assessing extracurricular and youth activities very desirable Experience working with youth/youth development/youth activities very desirable Experience working with Lebanese public schools Understanding of the Lebanese public educational system Excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills Master’s degree, preferably in Education, with at least 10 years of experience in the field of education, with appropriate project management skills;  PhD in education preferable Lebanese citizen Fluency in Arabic and English required; fluency in French preferred Available to start work immediately
