Site Engineer (Architect Profile)

In the framework of its cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is planning to launch a rehabilitation project for public schools in Wadi Khaled and Akroum area. The project aims at conducting Emergency WASH and rehabilitation works in 13-15 public schools in the targeted area. SDC is seeking a Lebanese Architect//Civil Engineer to assist in the planning and implementation of the project according to the following Terms of Reference.   Tasks and duties To assist in conducting a technical assessment covering the following topics: Technical installations and General safety measures Drinking water supply including water filters. Sanitary installations including toilet etc. Electrical installation including basic lightning. Height of balustrade (90cm if possible). Roofing Water proofing Rainwater evacuation Doors and Windows and Finishing works Repair or installation of new doors and windows New glazing of windows Painting (inside and outside), black board, Stairs and floor repairs Furniture Classroom furniture only Playground Proper rainwater evacuation Covered space for children (winter)   To assist the Swiss expert in the following issues: Assist in preparation of Tender documents, drawings and BoQs Ensure compliance of architectural and structural documents with all local by-laws and the relevant planning and building standards in order to obtain all necessary approvals and permits to allow for a successful project implementation Check project and working documents prior to implementation including: Architectural preliminaries and project plans Construction drawings: architectural and structural engineer's drawings Working and detail drawings Bills of quantity Work plans   Prepare cost estimate per school Carry out further tasks as instructed by her/his superior officer(s) Monitor the work of  the local contractors selected to implement the rehabilitation work   Establish project plans in the necessary scale Establish complete bill of quantities per school Define construction programs per school Assist in the tendering process Site supervision/Quality survey/Quantity survey Reporting and Site Correspondence: S/He shall report directly to the Swiss expert in charge of the project. S/He shall also cooperate with SDC Programme Officer at SDC Cooperation Office in Beirut. Maintain site records of completed works; Attend regular site meetings with Contractors and other third parties as needed; Maintain records of the Contractors’ activities, plant and labour; Prepare, dispatch, and receive site correspondence; Maintain a filing system; Develop and prepare progress reports (monthly bases).   Competencies Highly motivated, Good communication skills; Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately; Mobile with a valid driver’s license; Willingness to work long hours during periods of peak work; Good reporting skills Priority will be given to applicants residing in the North of Lebanon. Willing to travel regularly to the project sites specifically in Wadi Khaled and Akkroum area and to SDC offices in Kobayat and Beirut.              Education and Knowledge: University degree in Architecture Experience in house and institution rehabilitation,(school rehabilitation is an asset) Experience of minimum 5 years in Project Management   Demonstrate working experience in similar context Knowledge of Akkar area is desirable Computers: word, excel, power point, internet Languages: Arabic and English (French is an asset)        Only short listed candidates will be contacted.
