A. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Awareness and Outreach Officer is responsible for facilitating awareness-raising sessions on mental health and suicide prevention, and for promoting the National Lifeline (1564) and Embrace’s services. The Officer ensures that relevant information reaches key target audiences, including adults temporarily displaced and residing in emergency shelters, students in schools and universities, communities in rural and urban areas across Lebanon, particularly those most affected by the conflict and frontline workers such as health professionals. As needed, the Officer also delivers sessions and promotes the National Lifeline to other audiences, including parent committees and participants at public events.
B. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Awareness & Outreach Activities Coordination
- Work closely with the Awareness and Outreach Project Coordinator to ensure the effective planning and implementation of all awareness and outreach sessions.
- Support the Coordinator in liaising with relevant stakeholders to schedule, monitor, and report on activities.
- Maintain and archive all documentation related to project activities in a timely and organized manner.
2. Implementation of Awareness and Outreach Sessions
- Conduct field visits to emergency shelters, schools, universities, and other designated locations to deliver awareness-raising sessions and promote the National Lifeline and Embrace’s services.
- Develop and adapt educational content for awareness sessions and trainings, tailoring language, examples, and materials to suit diverse audiences in a culturally sensitive and age-appropriate manner.
- Communicate sensitive and taboo topics, such as suicide, with empathy, cultural awareness, and appropriate language, ensuring a safe and non-judgmental environment for all participants.
- Demonstrate strong public speaking and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and hold the attention of varied groups.
- Collaborate with the Mobile Mental Health Clinic team and the National Lifeline team to ensure outreach activities consistently incorporate key messages about both services.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Collect and accurately record data from all outreach activities, including participant attendance and feedback.
- Report findings to the Project Coordinator using designated reporting tools, and maintain up-to-date metrics and indicators related to outreach efforts.
4. Other Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with organizational policies and procedures across all outreach activities.
- Serve as a representative of Embrace at public forums, clearly communicating the organization’s mission and values.
- Maintain flexibility to travel to various locations across Lebanon as required.
- Conduct a minimum of three and up to four outreach and awareness-raising sessions per week.
C. QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Communications, Public Health, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in community engagement, outreach, or public education programs.
- Proven experience conducting community events and delivering awareness sessions to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in both Arabic and English.
- Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
