The main role of the Clinical Psychologist for adults is to provide psychological assessment and psychotherapy services to adult beneficiaries presenting for psychological services.
A. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting initial assessments through psycho-diagnostic interviews, and rating scales, to provide diagnosis, case formulation, and treatment plan.
- Conducting brief models of psychotherapy including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TFCBT), in individual or group format.
- Following up on psychological progress of the beneficiary and implementing concrete treatment plans in collaboration with beneficiaries to reach set goals and achieve recovery.
- Referring beneficiaries to specialized services when required.
- Coordinating with multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrist, social workers and other psychologists to provide holistic care to beneficiaries.
- Conducting mental health awareness sessions or group support sessions as needed.
- Keeping records of clinical encounters through various forms.
- Filing documents in an organized and efficient manner to facilitate the review of cases.
- Conducting other clinical duties if required to meet the mission and vision of Embrace.
B. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Critical Skills:
- Master's Degree or PhD in Clinical Psychology.
- License to practice the clinical psychology profession from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
- 3-5 years of clinical experience post MS.
- Specialization in trauma-informed therapies is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Arabic. French is a plus.
2. Professional Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to provide semi-structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation.
- Ability to recognize mental health priority conditions as per the mhGAP.
- Ability to use standardized assessment tools.
- Ability to provide empathic, evidence-based, brief, psychotherapy to a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to educate beneficiaries on behavioral tools such as relaxation and stress managment techniques and behavioral activation.
- Ability to develop a consistent treatment plan with clear objectives.
- Ability to monior and evaluate the psychological progress of the client.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision or leading trainings is a plus.
Skilled in or willing to build their capacity and knowledge in:
- Developing family-centered, goal and strength focused, recovery oriented care plan.
- Mental health in complex emergencues (IASC gudelines, psychological First Aif, mhGAP...)
- Biopsychological model in mental health.
- Community-based approach in mental health.
- Human rights-based approach in mental health.
- Evidence-based approach in mental health (e.g. IPT, CBT, TFCBT, EMDR)
- Knowledge about the predictable stresses of humanitarian aid work and the policies and practices to mitigate them.
3. Behavioral Skills:
- Demonstrates excellent organization and time management skills
- Demonstrates ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism while providing services to beneficiaries or working with internal support staff.
- Demonstrates ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles about work with vulnerale populations.
- Demontsrates cultural sensitivity.
