Clinical Psychologist Consultant (Trainer for the National Lifeline for Suicide Prevention)

B. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enhance and update training content, develop new content where needed in line with the latest research, best practices and developments in the field of suicide prevention and crisis intervention 
  • Facilitate engaging, dynamic and empathic training sessions to diverse groups with no background in psychology or mental health, including community members, and first responders
  • Incorporate case studies and itneractive exercises to enhance participants' practical skills 
  • Adapt training delivery methods to accomodate various learning styles and preferences
  • Implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the training 

C. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed clinical psychologist, with experience working with persons at risk of suicide or experiencing suicidal ideation
  • Proven experience in conducting training sessions on suicide risk assessment, active listening and suicide de-escalation
  • Practice experience in crisis intervention or mental health counseling 
  • Certifications in suicide prevention, crisis intervention or a related field is an asset 
  • Demonstrated ability to approach training and training participants with empathy, sensistivity and cultural competence 
  • Excellent communication skillss, both verbal and written, to effecitvely convey complex concepts and facilitate meaningful discussions.
