Major duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary mobile team to intervene during emergency mental health crisis through a 24/7 mobile unit.
- Provide appropriate care/support while avoiding unnecessary law enforcement involvement, ED use and hospitalization.
- Assess the situation and handle it with care and be able to give the proper support.
- Coordinate with medical and behavioral health services to give medications if necessary, based on the psychiatrist’s instructions.
- Crisis planning and follow up.
Administrative Clinical Support:
- Manage the medication kit
- Act as liaison between patient, clinician and medication provider (Pharmacy)
- Write and update patient records
General Skills:
- Required professional skills and knowledge: Assessment and Psychotherapy skills:
- Ability to conduct thorough clinical assessments and clear case formulation
- Ability to recognize mental health priority conditions as per the mhGAP
- Ability to use standardized assessment tools
- Ability to provide empathic, evidence-based, brief, psychological first aid to a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to intervene and de-escalate mental health emergencies and suicidal crises.
Skilled in or willing to build their capacity and knowledge in:
- Mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…)
- Biopsychosocial model in mental health
- Community-based approach in mental health
- Human rights-based approach in mental health
- Evidence-based approach in psychiatric nursing
- Knowledge about the predictable stresses of humanitarian aid work and the policies and practices needed to mitigate them
- Get the necessary training for the intervention team.

- Excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Time commitment:
- Part-time (Availability for 24/7 emergency crises)
- Mobile presence in Beirut during emergencies
