GRANT AWARDS FOR LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO GBV SURVIVORS IN NORTH LEBANON

This call for projects aims to strengthen access to justice and protection services for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in North Lebanon, in line with the Women Empowerment Hub (WE-Hub) project and the EU Gender Action Plan III. The programme prioritizes survivor-centred, coordinated, and sustainable legal assistance mechanisms that reinforce local institutional capacities, particularly within the justice and protection chain.

Eligible projects under this call shall demonstrate proven experience in working with GBV survivors, solid technical capacity in legal aid, case management, and referral systems, and the ability to effectively collaborate with the Tripoli Bar Association (TBA) and other relevant protection actors.

Programme priorities

The programme will focus on the following priorities:

  • Strengthening access to justice for GBV survivors

Support the provision of high-quality, survivor-centred legal assistance to women survivors of GBV in North Lebanon, ensuring safe access to information, legal counselling, representation, and follow-up throughout judicial procedures.

  • Enhancing coordination and institutional capacity within the justice and protection system

Reinforce collaboration between civil society organizations and the Tripoli Bar Association by strengthening case handling, referral pathways, and coordination mechanisms between legal, social, and protection actors.

  • Improving service mapping, case management, and professional capacities

Promote structured service mapping and case management systems through the deployment of qualified social workers and enhance the capacities of specialized personnel—particularly within the Tripoli Bar Association—on GBV-sensitive case handling and survivor-centred approaches.

The overall objective of this call for projects is: To enhance access to justice and protection for survivors of GBV in North Lebanon through coordinated, survivor-centred legal assistance and strengthened institutional capacities within the justice and protection system.

The specific objective(s) of this call for projects is(are):

    • To provide comprehensive, survivor-centred legal assistance to GBV survivors

Ensure that women survivors of GBV have access to quality legal aid services, including legal counselling, case follow-up, and representation, delivered by organizations with demonstrated experience and technical expertise in GBV response.

 

    • To strengthen collaboration and operational capacity with the Tripoli Bar Association

Support effective partnership with the Tripoli Bar Association through joint case handling mechanisms, structured referral systems, and capacity-building initiatives that enhance case handling and management.

 

    • To reinforce case management, referral systems, and service mapping in North Lebanon

Deploy a qualified social worker to:

  • Conduct comprehensive mapping of services available for GBV survivors in North Lebanon.
  • Lead and support survivor-centred case management and referrals.
  • Coordinate with legal actors and protection service providers; and
  • Train and mentor specialized staff within the TBA on GBV-sensitive case handling, documentation, and management.
