The Agriculture Officer will support the implementation of an agriculture and livelihoods project aimed at strengthening local agricultural value chains in the Baalbek–Hermel area. The project places a strong focus on farmers, women, youth, cooperatives, MSMEs, and agri-food actors. The role combines community outreach, coordination, activity implementation support, and MEAL-related tasks under the supervision of the Field Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
Outreach, Community Engagement & Assessments
- Support outreach campaigns targeting farmers, women, youth, cooperatives, and students
- Participate in information sessions, stakeholder meetings, and community consultations
- Support mapping of existing interventions and identification of community needs
- Coordinate with municipalities, local authorities, community leaders, and grassroots organizations
Support to Vocational & Professional Trainings
- Support the organization and implementation of agricultural and agro-processing vocational trainings
- Attend training sessions and ensure proper coordination with trainers and beneficiaries
- Support follow-up with beneficiaries, including youth engaged in cash-for-work / paid internship opportunities
- Liaise with local farmers, cooperatives, MSMEs, and agri-food enterprises hosting youth placements
Support to Women & Youth Small Businesses
- Support beneficiary follow-up during business selection and needs assessment processes
- Assist in coordinating mentoring sessions and business-related support activities
- Conduct field visits to supported small businesses and provide regular feedback to the Field Coordinator
Support to MSMEs & Cooperatives Capacity Building
- Support outreach and registration of agri-food MSMEs and cooperatives
- Assist in needs assessments and follow-up with selected MSMEs/cooperatives
- Support delivery and documentation of trainings and in-kind support
- Maintain regular communication with cooperatives and MSME representatives
Market Linkages & Networking Support
- Support the organization of networking and matchmaking events
- Assist in connecting producers, cooperatives, MSMEs, and new businesses with markets and buyers
- Support coordination for participation in local and national markets and events
Community & Advisory Council Support
- Support the establishment and coordination of the local agricultural advisory council
- Assist in organizing meetings and documenting council recommendations
- Facilitate communication between council members, communities, and the project team
MEAL & Reporting Support
- Support MEAL data collection activities (attendance sheets, surveys, pre/post tests, feedback forms)
- Ensure accurate field data collection and timely submission to the MEAL team
- Contribute to monthly field updates and activity reports in English
- Provide qualitative community feedback in Arabic
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of project-related data
Qualification and Requirment
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Community Development, or a related field
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- Previous experience working with NGOs or community-based projects is an asset
- Experience working with farmers, cooperatives, women, and/or youth is highly desirable
- Willingness to be based in Baalbek and travel regularly within Baalbek–Hermel
- Ability to work in a multicultural and multi-stakeholder environment
