Makani Centers provide inclusive, quality education opportunities to children and youth through multiple programs, including Early Childhood Education (ECE).Teacher play a key role in enhancing teaching quality and improving learning outcomes across these programs. They support teachers through classroom observation, coaching, and capacity building, ensuring instruction is learner-centered, inclusive, and aligned with program goals.
.General Mentoring Responsibilities:
- Conduct structured classroom observations using UNICEF tools.
- Assess instructional quality, student engagement, and classroom management.
- Provide timely, evidence-based feedback to promote reflective practice and improvement.
- Support teachers in aligning lessons with program learning objectives and methodologies.
- Collect and document data on teaching practices and learner progress.
- Support teachers in interpreting assessment data to adjust and improve instruction.
- Conduct one-on-one and group coaching sessions to strengthen teachers’ skills and confidence.
- Model effective, child-centered teaching practices during classroom visits.
- Facilitate peer learning and communities of practice among teachers.
- Promote inclusive and gender-responsive pedagogy.
- Participate in mentor and teacher training sessions.
- Coordinate regularly with center coordinators and education officers.
- Submit timely observation, coaching, and progress reports.
C. Expected Deliverables
- Monthly classroom observation and coaching reports.
- Consolidated progress summaries highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Data and qualitative feedback supporting monitoring of learning outcomes.
- Participation in quarterly review and learning meetings with UNICEF, World Learning, and partner staff.
D. Working Modality and Coordination
- Mentors will be assigned to a cluster of Makani Centers and are expected to conduct regular field visits.
- Coordination will take place with center coordinators, teachers, and education officers to plan visits and follow-up actions.
- Participation in technical review meetings and reflection sessions with World Learning and UNICEF is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Languages (Arabic/French), Mathematics, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in Arabic, French, English or Math at primary or lower secondary levels.
- Demonstrated experience in teacher coaching, mentoring, or training.
- Strong understanding of child-centered and active learning methodologies.
- Excellent observation, analytical, and feedback skills.
- Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Arabic and French (required); English is an asset.
- Strong organizational, reporting, and time management skills.
