Speech Therapist

The purpose of FISTA’s activities is to protect, educate and ensure respect for children with disabilities independently from any political, financial or military objective and making no distinctions on the basis of nationality, race, gender, religious belief, class or political opinions.

FISTA’s Vision is a community, where each individual with disability is entitled his full rights.


Speech Therapist’s main tasks:

 

A Speech Therapist is needed to work  two to three days per week within a project funded by UNICEF in North Lebanon and  Akkar .  

 

  • To conduct speech therapy interventions to children/youth with disability.
  • To develop a therapeutic plan for each beneficiary and to share it with the concerned team and caregivers.
  • To fill assessment and session record sheets upon each session
  • To coordinate with the project director, the program consultant and other specialists.
  • To undergo supervision and follow-up sessions
  • To collaborate with the teachers on the individual therapeutic plan of each child
  •  To report on the child’s evolution and progress to the project coordination as requested.
  • Assess the level of speech impairments/delay, difficulty and set accordingly an individualized Treatment Plan
  • To fill discharge and end of treatment reports upon therapy completion
  • To collaborate with parents through meetings in order to meet desired goals and to evaluate the child's current level, personal areas for development, and capacities.
  • To conduct training sessions in schools increasing the knowledge of the teachers and team in schools about inclusion and topics related to children with disability
  • To conduct awareness sessions among the parents and the community on the speech development
  • To develop and customize training sessions for FISTA partners such as NGO’s and other stakeholders.

 

 

Skills:

·         BA in speech Therapy

·         Follows FISTA center policies and by laws

·         Believes in concepts of human rights

·          Respects each team member’s position

·          Able to adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor

·          Good communication skills

 

  • Ability to work with patients from different backgrounds (cultural, ethnic….)

·         Excellent command of English

·         Ability to write report
