Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is currently implementing a Dutch-funded project entitled “Upgrading the technical agriculture education system in Lebanon”, in partnership with the international NGO AVSI, the International Labour Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA). The project aims at enhancing the employability of young male and female Lebanese and displaced Syrians and other refugees in Lebanon by giving them the opportunity to acquire the necessary technical skills to access better career opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness in Lebanon or in Syria. The main project outcome is to help MOA in upgrading its seven existing Agricultural Technical Schools (ATS) and provide high quality agricultural technical training to young female and male Lebanese and Syrian to respond to the labor market demand. The project assists MOA in revising its education and extension policy framework, rehabilitating the existing seven ATS; revises the school curriculum and its different course components; enhances the management and teaching capacity; establishes twining programme between agriculture technical schools in Lebanon and their counterparts in Europe; and links the agricultural schools and private sector and potential employers.Therefore, the FAO representation in Lebanon is looking to recruit Junior National Agricultural Field Specialist to support in the implementation of the project. Reporting Lines The Junior National Agricultural Field Specialist will be under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the Lead Technical Officer (LTO). Technical Focus Agriculture – TVET, extension, crop production, plant/animal sciences, rural community facilitation, or related field agriculture development projects.Tasks and responsibilities - Liaise and collaborate with the project partners for the effective implementation of project activities;
- Collaborate in the development of training tools and materials and the organisation of workshops/seminars/ training courses;
- Participate in the organization, conduct and follow-up of meetings, consultations and conferences, the development/production of required materials and the provision of information and assistance to partners;
- Provide support to consultants and staff assigned to the project;
- Collect and analyse relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional and technology related information, data and/or statistics to support the delivery of projects outcome, outputs and activities;
- Undertake analysis, provide technical input for plans and report, and revise technical documents and technical specifications;
- Conduct field missions as needed;
- Participate in the development of improved work methods, tools and systems;
- Update databases and web pages;
- Assist, if requested, in meetings requested by FAO Representative, Resilience Coordinator, Steering Committee, and senior related staff of partners;
- Undertake other project related tasks as requested by the respective Project Manager. Expected Outputs: - Field missions reports, as per missions based

- End of contract report, by end of contract CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWINGMinimum Requirements - University degree in agriculture - crop production, plant/animal sciences, agricultural economics, or related field;
- Three years of relevant experience in agriculture - crop production, plant/animal sciences, agricultural economics, or related field;
- National of Lebanon;

- Good written and oral working knowledge in English and Arabic;
