General Description of task(s)andobjectives to be achieved
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative in Lebanon and the technical supervision of the Regional Plant Production Officer in RNE, and in collaboration and coordination with the National Project Coordinator and with the team from the American University of Beirut, the Project Assistant will carry out the following tasks:
• Adequately and effectively coordinate and monitor all project activities in line with FAO rules and regulations;
• Supervise and support the organization of local training sessions;
• Cooperate and collaborate with project stakeholders;
Regular field visit (3 days a week) to program implementation sites (4 different locations in each governorate; of which 6 are collective centers for displaced Syrians and 2 sites for Lebanese); and 2 days in the office;
Monitor the overall implementation of the project;
Report on project progress through weekly reporting and monthly on Activity Info;
• Prepare and organize technical meetings, inception and closure workshops;
• Provide support to procurement activities including tender processing and documentation;
• Maintain up-to-date records of all project equipment: expandable; and non-expandable;
• Support administrative and financial tasks related to the Project, including budget revisions and monitoring of the expenditures;
• Maintain the accounts of the Project according to FAO regulations including a shadow budget to follow project’s delivery and
commitments;
• Ensure good visibility of the project and communicate achievements to all stakeholders;
• Review and contribute to technical reports;
• Prepare, review and keep updated monthly/quarterly project work plan and implement them ;
• Prepare periodic progress reports of the Project as well as any other report that may be requested for submission to FAO, the
Government of Lebanon, and the OCHA office in Lebanon;
• Prepare the Terminal Report of the Project in close cooperation with the National Project Coordinator project team and in accordance with the FAO/OCHA format;
• Provide inputs and assistance in the formulation and implementation of other FAO projects’ activities as needed
• Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
University degree in agriculture (B.Sc. or equivalent) with focus on crop production
Minimum 3 years of experience in implementation of agricultural projects
experiences and familiarity with innovative agricultural production systems is a plus
Experience in humanitarian work
Willingness to go to the field
Availability of a personal vehicle and willingness to use it for work purposes
Excellent communication skills and good team work
Working knowledge of English and Arabic.
