Organizational Setting
To achieve its results and sustain impacts, the project will recruit a “Social Media Expert” to implement the approved and agreed upon Communication Strategy of the 40 Million Trees for the Ministry of Agriculture. The aim is enhancing awareness of all stakeholders about the 40 Million Trees Program, in addition to forests, their services, challenges, threats, and opportunities. It also aims at raising interest in sustainable forest management and mobilizing resources for climate-proof and participatory reforestation and forest management initiatives. The Expert is expected to develop the tools and content on the different social media platforms, linking them directly to the 40 Million Trees Program of the Government of Lebanon, headed by the Ministry of Agriculture. Along the way, the Expert will coach a team from the MoA on the different techniques related to Social Media in order to build their capacity and allow them to lead the process once the project is over. Although undertaken in the framework of the SALMA project, the communication tools will be under the MoA and will not bare the identity of FAO. The Social Media Expert is also expected to draft the information to be posted (mainly in Arabic) and to cover some important events/situations related to the forestry sector.
Reporting Lines
The Social Media expert will report to:
- FAO Representative
- SALMA Project Manager
- Communications Officer
- Communication expert on 40 million Trees Program
- NFO/OCC Communication focal point
Technical Focus
- Handling the social media platforms: Designing, planning, boosting and managing marketing campaigns that promote our causes and subjects, as well as identifying trends
- Collaborating with the designers and office communicator
- Coordinating with media channels to assure an effective media coverage of all activities
Tasks and responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision of the Project Manager, in close collaboration with the FAO Communication Officer, the Communication Expert and the NFO/OCC Communication focal point, the incumbent will:
- Edit handy brief news about the forestry sector
- Cover events or/and situations to be posted on Social Media
- Implement press and media campaigns
- Design, build and maintain the social media presence of the 40 Million Trees Program
- Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns
- Lead and manage SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or displaying advertising campaigns
- Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
- Prepare digital media calendar and scheduling its posts
- Follow up and communicating with “potential” brand enthusiasts to convert them into “Ambassadors” (to be agreed upon with the MoA)
- Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests
- Arabic and English copywriting is a must
- Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimizing user experience
- Collaborate with agencies and other vendors
- Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate
- Coach and train digital marketers in the MoA
- Predispose for any occasion or suddenly status

Minimum Requirements
The successful Consultant will have the following minimum requirements:
- A master’s degree in journalism and or Communication
- Have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the field of social media and communication
- Excellent knowledge of Arabic and English is a must
- National of Lebanon or resident with a regular work permit.
