Journalism/storytelling intern

FDCD is looking for a journalism/storytelling intern to join the team for 3 months; 2 days/week. Journalism undergraduates and graduates are encouraged to apply. 

It is to note that the time is flexible and negotiable. The intern will closely work with the communications manager on writing stories, documenting activities and programs and archiving and digitizing content. This internship is remunerated and requires the presence of the intern at the office, so residing in Beirut is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  1. Write documents and success stories in English and in Arabic
  2. Write impact stories 
  3. Assist in creating social media posts and videos 
  4. Interview staff and jot relevant information about projects/program
  5. Read relevant reports and files, and produce comprehensive documents about the projects/programs
  6. Produce short videos
  7. Digitize the archives

Skills

  1. Full proficiency in both Arabic and English.
  2. Proficiency in Word, Canva, Premiere or Clipchamp (or any video editing app).  
  3. Strong storytelling skills (written and visual).
  4. Strong journalistic, interviewing and listening skills.
  5. Ability to find relevant pictures for relevant stories.
  6. Ability to amend and edit according to discussions and comments
  7. Translation is desirable
