Position Trainer (m/f) for our programme in Lebanon Place of work Beirut, with extensive travel within the country (mainly the Bekaa plains)
Employer Forum Ziviler Friedensdienst e.V. (forumZFD) forumZFD provides training and project support in Germany and abroad. With its members, it advocates the renunciation of violence-based policies, reinforcement of civilian resources in the state and society, and democratic participation of all social, ethnic and religious groups. forumZFD currently has more than 80 employees working in 14 locations in Germany, the Middle East, the Western Balkans, and South-East Asia. Twenty-five people are employed at the head office in Cologne. They organise the project work in Germany and abroad, public relations, lobby and training activities.
Your responsibilities As Trainer, you will work within a German-Lebanese team of seven colleagues, tasked with planning and implementing training workshops in the realm conflict transformation and community mobilising/organising for the Future Together Now project. The project aims to relieve tensions between Syrian refugees and native Lebanese, primarily in the Bekaa Valley.
Specific tasks within the project work: • Design, prepare, implement and evaluate training in conflict transformation and related topics in cooperation with colleagues (English and Arabic) • Prepare training reports• Design new training material (English and Arabic) • Review and redesign existing training material (English and Arabic) • Draw out lessons learnt and best practices from all training sessions • Support colleagues in mentoring and supporting trainees • Support strategic planning on the programme level • Provide technical inputs and consultation • Regularly update project manager on project progress, obstacles and developments • Support preparation of narrative project progress reports • Support the project monitoring and evaluation process of the project • Support project records/documentation • Actively participate in weekly project team meetings for content discussion and occasional meetings for team-building • Actively participate in Lebanon-Team meetings and team-building activities • Ensure flow of information within project team as well as between project teams
Your profile • Educated to degree standard (at least Bachelor’s degree or similar) • Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a trainer, ideally in the civil society sector and with local communities • Experience working with national (and/or international) NGOs • Experience working in the realm of peacebuilding/conflict transformation • Sound knowledge of the community landscape in North and Central Bekaa, Tripoli and Southern Lebanon is an asset • Applying a non-directive and participatory training approach • Process oriented • High level of flexibility • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic • Good written and spoken English • Excellent team-working and interpersonal communication skills • Sound judgement • Ability to work in a systematic and methodical manner • Ability to work well on own initiative and self-organised and complete tasks on time • Ability to travel regularly within Lebanon and at short notice • Capability and willingness to work at weekends if necessary • Open to learn and develop • Commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity • Commitment to non-violence • Valid driver’s license
