Call for Applications: Legal Associate Position - Beirut

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Aid and Case Management

  • Conduct client interviews, provide legal counseling, and prepare case files.
  • Draft and review legal documents, petitions, and submissions.
  • Represent clients before administrative bodies, institutions, and courts, when authorized.
  • Follow up on cases and maintain detailed and confidential case records.
  • Coordinate with external lawyers, partners, and institutions as needed.

2. Legal Research and Analysis

  • Conduct legal research on national laws, policies, and international conventions relevant to stateless persons.
  • Prepare legal opinions, briefs, and thematic reports.
  • Support FRH’s advocacy and strategic litigation efforts through legal analysis and documentation.

3. Coordination and Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with legal assistants and other team members to ensure efficient case management.
  • Suggest liaising with partner organizations, UN agencies, and authorities on specific matters and prepare the necessary background, rationale, and recommendations to support engagement through appropriate channels.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and workshops relevant to FRH’s legal work.

4. Reporting and Documentation

  • Contribute to regular reporting on casework, trends, and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all legal activities.
  • Support the preparation of donor or internal reports when requested.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (Master’s preferred).
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in legal aid or work with NGOs, preferably in fields related to statelessness, refugees, or migrant workers.
  • Solid knowledge of Lebanese legal system and human rights law.
  • Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to human rights principles, confidentiality, and FRH’s values.
  • Legal accuracy and analytical thinking.
  • Professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.

Ruwad alHoukouk (Frontiers Rights) is a rights-based, non-governmental organization committed to promoting social justice, equality, and human rights in Lebanon. We provide legal aid, advocate for policy reform, and support marginalized and vulnerable populations including refugees, stateless persons, and migrant workers. Our multidisciplinary team works closely with communities, legal actors, and institutions to foster systemic change and ensure access to justice for all.
