The project is Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ), through RET Germany, and implemented by GATE Lebanon
Under the project "Improving Food Security, livelihoods, and inclusion of women and vulnerable groups, and promoting gender equality in Northern Lebanon," funded by BMZ through RET Germany in cooperation with GATE Lebanon, a program is being implemented to support farmers in Akkar in improving their agriculture practices to reduce their costs and increase their income.
Project Locations: Akkar
Target Groups: Approximately 100 farmers and farm workers, mainly women, youth, and disabled persons.
The project will serve vulnerable beneficiaries, mainly women and individuals with disabilities, including refugees. The project aims to support vulnerable groups by conducting field training sessions on harvesting and post harvesting techniques for various crops in Akkar region. Gate Lebanon seeks individual experts or consultants to deliver focused training sessions. Each training day will consist of two sessions not less than 5 hours (both sessions), with costs specified per day in Euro currency.
GATE Lebanon is looking for consultant/s to provide either harvesting and/or post harvesting training sessions to farmers and farm workers in Akkar on the following major crops:
- Olives
- Apples
- Almonds
- Cherries
- Nuts
- Avocado
- Pomegranate
- Citrus
- Vegetables in Green Houses and in open Fields
- Implement technical training sessions for farmers and/or farm workers in the field and/or inside packing and sorting locations (locations will be selected by GATE Lebanon).
- The consultant must submit a simple Power Point presentation before the training.
- Develop pre- and post-assessment tests comprising of at least 10 questions on the specified topics to evaluate beneficiaries' knowledge and understanding of Harvesting and post harvesting techniques.
- The consultant will be responsible to analyze the test results and provide feedback to GATE on any necessary modifications or improvements to the training program.
- Coordinate with GATE to finalize the training schedules, session timings and dates.
- GATE will be responsible for undertaking the outreach beneficiaries, secure training facility and location, stationery, and other logistics to beneficiaries, in coordination with the consultant. The consultant will be responsible for delivering training sessions at the selected locations in Akkar.
- Gate will make efforts to arrange two training sessions per day for the same group or for different groups of beneficiaries (no less than 5 hours both sessions) to facilitate and reduce the training cost.
- GATE will provide tools to beneficiaries where the consultant must provide proper training on the safe use of the harvesting tools.
- Following each training session, the consultant will deliver a comprehensive narrative report detailing the session's challenges, beneficiary feedback, and any recommendations or adjustments to improve future training sessions.
Consultant Profile:
- At least 5 years of proven experience in harvesting and post harvesting practices for different crops.
- Experience in conducting training sessions, workshops, targeting farmers or agricultural workers.
- Familiarity with agricultural practices in the Akkar region.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with farmers and adapt training approaches to their level of understanding.
- Willingness to travel to rural areas and training locations in Akkar.
- Provide at least 3 references and experience history: list projects, locations, crops, duration, and clients.
Payment Terms:
- All payments will be made in EURO currency.
- The payments will be made based on progress, as no advance payments will be provided by GATE.
