Program Coordinator

The Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut is looking for a Program Coordinator to join its Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program.

The program coordinator is responsible for managing all research, capacity building, and outreach activities of the Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program. The coordinator will work closely with the EPaPP team and GHI Programs Division management to deliver on existing research projects and further advance the program through the development of new projects and initiatives.

Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to planning the research strategy for the program and leading the development and submission of new grant applications
  • Planning the research design, methods, work schedules, and deliverables of the projects under the EPaPP
  • Ensuring the timely achievement of deliverables and coordinating among co-investigators the drafting of progress reports to partner institutions and funders
  • Contributing to conception, writing, and publishing of scholarly outputs
  • Managing projects budgets and spending in coordination with the GHI grants manager
  • Planning and supervising the work of staff and interns under the Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program
  • Organizing and holding in-person and virtual meetings with multiple stakeholders across projects
     

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Holds a MSc (with 3-5 years of experience) or MD/PhD (with 2 years of experience) in health-related field.
  • Knowledge of health systems and pandemic/epidemic preparedness.  
  • Relevant experience in writing multidisciplinary research proposals and grant applications that combine medical and global health components 
  • Experience managing a team of interdisciplinary researchers and staff as well as multiple project budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead and manage multiple projects and teams, and prioritize/delegate tasks to meet deadlines
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic
  • Proven excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
     

About the Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program

The Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program (EPaPP) aims to generate and promote contextualized evidence on improving equitable and responsive epidemic and pandemic preparedness in the MENA region by enhancing workforce capacity, collaborations, information systems, and governance mechanisms. The EPaPP also builds on the research and clinical expertise available at AUB and leverages existing capacities across the MENA region to enhance preparedness, foster partnerships, and promote evidence-based policy making around epidemics and pandemics.

The successful candidate will be based at the Global Health Institute offices at AUB and will be required to start immediately after the time of acceptance. The selected candidate will be reporting directly to the Programs Division Manager.
