Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The French Teacher will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to a positive and effective learning environment. These include:

  • Instruction and Curriculum Development:
  • Develop and implement a standards-based French curriculum for grades 4-8.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that incorporate various teaching methods, including conversation, games, songs, and technology.
  • Focus on building students' skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Introduce students to basic French grammar, vocabulary, and phonetic rules.
  • Integrate cultural lessons about French-speaking countries to provide context and enrich the learning experience.

Classroom Management and Student Assessment:

  • Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and consistently.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of methods, such as quizzes, projects, presentations, and conversational assessments.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades.

Collaboration and Professional Growth:

  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to align the French curriculum with other subjects and school-wide goals.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
  • Stay current with best practices in world language instruction and educational technology.
