Scope of Work
The Beekeeping Expert will be responsible for:
- Training and Capacity Building
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive 6 training days (3 topics and 1.5 hour each) total 18 sessions as a common training for 30-40 farmers, curriculum on sustainable beekeeping practices, with a focus on topics such as hive management, bee health, honey production, and environmental sustainability.
- Develop and deliver 2 training days (3 topics and 1.5 hour each) total 6 sessions on sustainable beekeeping practices, with a focus on topics such as hive management, bee health, honey production, and environmental sustainability for the selected 10 farmers.
- Develop and deliver 1 day training (2 topic and 1.5 hour each) total 2 sessions as common training for agroforestry and beekeeper with focus on integration of beekeeping in the agroforestry system from the 20 farmers
- Conduct 2 days on-site training after distributing the bee hives for the 10 beekeepers.
- Emphasize the role of bees in agroforestry systems, highlighting pollination benefits and techniques to integrate beekeeping with other agricultural practices.

- Offer hands-on demonstrations during training to facilitate practical learning, including hive setup, swarm management, and honey extraction.
3.2 Coaching:
- Conduct on-site (3 visits per month) for follow-up and reporting for the assurance of implementing the theoretical methods.
- Provide ongoing technical support to beekeepers, addressing their questions and challenges as they implement beekeeping practices on their farms.
Integration of Beekeeping Practices into Agroforestry system:
- Assess selected farms for their suitability to incorporate beekeeping within agroforestry settings.
- Develop farm-specific designs that blend beehives, trees, crops, and livestock to maximize productivity, biodiversity, and sustainability.
Technical Assistance in Sustainable Beekeeping Practices:
As follow up the beekeeping expert will offer training and guidance on:
- Hive Management: Promote effective hive placement, maintenance, and techniques like migratory beekeeping to optimize pollination and honey production.
- Bee Health and Nutrition: Introduce methods such as organic treatments for pests and diseases, and ensure bees have access to diverse floral resources for optimal nutrition.
- Floral Resource Enhancement: Encourage planting strategies that increase floral diversity that support bees year-round, benefiting both bees and crop yields
3.3 Resource Development
- Prepare training materials, manuals, and visual aids to support participants’ learning and retention of knowledge.
- Provide farmers with practical guides on hive maintenance, seasonal beekeeping tasks, and post-harvest honey processing.
3.4 Monitoring and Evaluation
- Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure knowledge improvement and track progress in beekeeping practices.
- Regularly report on training outcomes, participant progress, and any challenges encountered during the training sessions.
