Branding & Communications Consultant (Remote)

Location: Remote, based in the MENA region

OVERALL PURPOSE
The Branding and Communications Consultant is responsible for supporting our work to enhance Greenpeace MENA's public image, reputation, and brand presence in the region. The role involves developing and implementing comprehensive branding and communications strategies, managing key influencer relationships, and ensuring cohesive organizational branding to expand awareness, engage new audiences, increase the level of engagement, and maximize the impact of campaigns and projects.

SCOPE
The Consultant will execute branding, communications, and marketing strategies for Greenpeace MENA. This role requires independence, initiative, and strategic vision, with responsibilities extending to global projects and collaborations across multiple Greenpeace offices. The consultant will also oversee budgets, ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

BRANDING, COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING STRATEGY

Lead the implementation of GP MENA’s branding and communications strategies, ensuring alignment with GP MENA’s mission, vision, and goals.

Develop campaigns that strengthen Greenpeace’s brand identity and visibility across the MENA region, with a focus on positioning GP MENA as a leading environmental organization by integrating innovative storytelling techniques to communicate Greenpeace’s impact and initiatives effectively.

Ensure consistent and effective messaging across all internal and external communications channels, in alignment with the branding and communications strategy and guidelines.

Implement a strategy to enhance the public profile of the Executive Director (ED) as a leading voice in environmental advocacy.

INFLUENCER MARKETING & BRAND AMBASSADORSHIP

Design and execute strategies for engaging key influencers to amplify GP MENA’s messaging and campaigns.

Oversee outreach and partnerships with influencers, ensuring alignment with branding objectives and organizational values.

Track and analyze influencers' performance to refine engagement strategies.

Lead on managing GP MENA branding events, in collaboration with partners, and suppliers, and support in managing other departments' events to ensure proper branding of the organization.

MESSAGE DEVELOPMENT & NARRATIVE BUILDING

Create and refine key messages for the organization, campaigns, public speaking engagements, and organizational updates.

Ensure messaging is tailored to diverse audiences within the MENA region and fits different personas while considering local context and cultural sensitivity.

Oversee the creation of high-quality, brand-aligned content, including annual reports, newsletters, campaigns, and strategic messaging for stakeholders.

Work with campaign teams to ensure messages are compelling, impactful, resonate with target audiences, and align with the branding messages and guidelines.

MARKET & AUDIENCE RESEARCH

Lead audience and market research projects to identify trends, measure brand perception, and guide strategy development.

Utilize data analysis to provide actionable recommendations for enhancing branding, communications, and marketing outcomes.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Lead branding and communications components of cross-departmental projects, ensuring seamless integration of communications and engagement strategies.

Support campaign teams by providing branding insights and communication expertise to maximize campaign reach and effectiveness.

 

CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS

Support the Engagement Director in crisis communication planning and execution, as needed, ensuring clear, timely, and effective responses to reputational risks.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

Develop internal communication plans in collaboration with the People & Culture team to safeguard the brand and to keep staff informed and engaged with organizational updates, campaigns, and milestones.

MONITORING, EVALUATION & REPORTING

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for branding, communications, and marketing initiatives.

Monitor and evaluate campaigns' success, reporting progress and incorporating lessons learned into future strategies.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT

Manage the budget for branding, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational priorities.

OTHER DUTIES

Perform additional tasks delegated by the Engagement Director to support GP MENA’s branding and communications goals.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

Educational Qualifications

Graduate or postgraduate degree (Master’s preferred) in communications, marketing, or a related field.

Experience & Skills

At least 7-10 years of professional experience in marketing, branding, or communications, preferably in a non-profit organization.

Proven success in designing and implementing branding, communications, and marketing strategies.

Expertise in influencer marketing 

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic, with experience in creating diverse content formats.

Knowledge of market research methods and public relations strategies, with established connections in the MENA region.

Demonstrated experience in project management and cross-cultural collaboration.
