Communications Internship

Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organisation that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace.   OBJECTIVES: The intern will provide general support to the Arab World programme, particularly its communications work. This will allow the intern to develop new skill sets and gain hands on experience on various aspects of Greenpeace’s media and communications work, both offline and digital.     SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: # Have fluent written Arabic and good command of English # Love working in a multi-cultural environment # Be comfortable promoting an idea and defending an argument # Be good at multi-tasking # And be willing to learn new skills, and share your skills with others # Interest in and awareness of environmental issues TASKS FOR MEDIA ANALYSIS INTERNS: # Reporting media statistics # Quantitative and qualitative media analysis # Media trends research # Create internal news briefings # Edit news stories for the greenpeacearabic.org website # Draft text for email newsletters # Help keep our Facebook Page and Twitter account updated # Aggregation and coding of media coverage # Reporting web performance statistics PROGRAM SUPPORT: You will spend roughly 70 percent of your time on the tasks above and related work in the Communications Department for the Arab world Program at Greenpeace Mediterranean (GPMed). For the rest of your time (30 percent), you will work on general office and campaign support. CONDITIONS AND HOW TO APPLY: GPMed internships are full-time positions (40 hours per week). Our internships are meant for students or recent graduates who have completed their studies less than 1 year ago. This internship lasts from one to three months maximum and remuneration is via a modest monthly honorarium that covers transport and food allowance. A certificate of Internship will be delivered at the end of the agreed period of internship. Our offices being located in Beirut, Lebanese nationals or other nationals with a valid work/residency permit for Lebanon are asked to apply.
