Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BLN) Teacher – Majdal Anjar

Job Responsibilities

Program Implementation

Plan, organize, and deliver structured BLN lessons using the curriculum provided by the donor.

Facilitate interactive and learner-centered activities that promote literacy and numeracy development.

Prepare the classroom, learning materials, and teaching aids to ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Support children and adolescents in developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-expression skills.

Monitoring and Reporting

Assess, monitor, and document learners’ academic progress on a regular basis.

Record and maintain accurate daily attendance and learner files.

Identify and promptly report learning difficulties, developmental needs, or protection concerns to the Center Manager.

Contribute to weekly staff meetings and provide progress reports as required.

Coordination and Communication

Engage with parents and caregivers to strengthen support for learners’ educational development.

Collaborate closely with colleagues, supervisors, and center staff to ensure effective implementation of activities.

Receive and apply constructive feedback from supervisors to improve teaching performance.

Compliance and Accountability

Ensure strict adherence to safeguarding, child protection, and gender-sensitive approaches in all activities.

Report any suspected case of neglect, abuse, or violation of child protection standards to the line manager immediately.

Follow organizational policies, donor requirements, and professional codes of conduct.

Qualification and Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Languages, Mathematics, or a related field (required).

Experience

Minimum of 1–2 years of proven teaching experience, preferably with out-of-school children or adolescents.

Experience in non-formal education or NGO/humanitarian settings is an asset.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of basic literacy and numeracy teaching methods.

Creativity and adaptability in lesson planning and classroom management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage children, adolescents, and caregivers effectively.

Good organizational, record-keeping, and reporting skills.

Ability to work in a team environment and act professionally with all stakeholders.

Fluency in Arabic; good command of English is an advantage.
