YFS Teacher

Job purpose:

The YFS Teacher will deliver educational and life-skills sessions to youth within the Youth Friendly Space (YFS) program.
They will support the personal, academic, and social development of young participants through interactive and learner-centered methods.
The position contributes to improving youth knowledge, employability, and positive engagement in their communities.
The teacher will ensure sessions are inclusive, aligned with the YFS curriculum, and supportive of psychosocial well-being.

Job responsibilities

Plan and conduct academic, literacy, and life-skill sessions tailored to youth needs and program objectives.
Promote critical thinking, communication, and teamwork through participatory and creative approaches.
Ensure safe learning spaces, respect, and inclusion for all participants, especially vulnerable groups.
Coordinate with the YFS focal point to report progress, attendance, and challenges in a timely manner.

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching or facilitating youth or adolescent programs.
Experience in youth education, employability, or informal learning is highly desirable.
Background in PSS or life-skills facilitation is an added advantage.

Skills

Strong teaching, facilitation, and classroom management skills with diverse youth groups.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, encouraging respect and participation.
Ability to plan lessons creatively and adapt to different learning styles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry tools (Excel, Kobo, etc.).
