On –Call Lawyer Beirut, Lebanon Job Description   Background:   The Lebanese Council to Resist Violence Against Women (LECORVAW) (www.lebanesewomen.org) has been established for more than ten years and has been combating violence against women through various strategies, from psychosocial and socio-economic services to awareness raising, advocacy and direct lobbying. LECORVAW now operates one center in Beirut and one in Tripoli.                                   In partnership with Heartland Alliance, Beyond Association is in the process of launching a safe women space that provides holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations affected by the Syrian refugee crisis, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma.     Summary: The On-Call Lawyer  will be  take the responsibility of providing legal consultations with the centers’ beneficiaries when needed as well as conducting awareness sessions on different legal issues of concern to the target population  and thus contributing to the range of services provided by the Safe Women Space. The duration of the project is 6 months with possible extension.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conducting legal counseling sessions with  beneficiaries Following up of the legal cases if any, preparing all needed documents, arguments, etc.  Legally representing the beneficiaries in front of the Lebanese courts whenever necessary and needed.   Preparing and conducting training sessions on different legal issues for staff and beneficiaries    Qualifications & Experience:   Bachelor Degree Field of education: LAW A Lawyer registered in Beirut Bar Association.  Fluency in Arabic and English At least five-years of relevant experience with a law firm, international organization, or non-governmental organization. Proven expertise in the practice and application of law Ability to write succinctly and for a non-academic audience.
