Summary: The Mental Health Trainer and Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring quality control and providing continuous training, mentoring and supervision to the Psychologists working in HA safe spaces for women and girls affected by the Syrian crisis throughout Lebanon. S/he will have in-depth expertise and demonstrated experience working with survivors of SGBV, torture and trauma, as well as sensitivity to LGBTI issues. S/he will coordinate with the Psychologists and Social Workers to ensure the provision of high-quality comprehensive and holistic psychosocial support to patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the Psychologists’ daily provision of services and case management duties, delegating work assignments, and formally evaluate individuals’ performance; actively participate in the delivery of client services as necessary
Provide continuous mentoring and supervision through comprehensive technical support and coaching to the counseling and medical teams with refreshment training as needs are identified
Monitor quality of individual and group counseling sessions and messages delivered to the patients and family members and/or caretakers; coordinate with psychosocial team to define the best responses (treatment and strategy) to continually improve response to patients’ psychological needs;
Monitor tools and methods used by the counseling team to evaluate, develop, and maintain an effective counseling network system and modify them as necessary; oversee the implementation of confidential documentation of treatment records (e.g. patient history, intake, assessment, progress notes); stay up to date about clinical developments and research
Assess, evaluate and report program and staff performance and issues requiring attention; evaluate therapy outcomes and write reports; ensure that psychological care is provided according to HA standards and protocols and IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support
Work with psychosocial team to establish trust by addressing patients’ thought processes, feelings and behavior with a strong sense of neutrality and confidentiality
Support Psychologists in the diagnosis of any psychological or psychiatric disorder; assess needs and referral system for psychiatric case management (PTSD, depression, psychosis, addiction, etc); refer patients to psychiatric and/or other medical services if needed
Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive support for each patient including weekly team meetings, treatment planning, and team consultation; promote an attitude of team spirit and a strong focus on quality among the psychosocial staff
Establish supportive patient networks, including peer-to-peer support, and group psycho education and therapy
Ensure timely and accurate compliance with case file management and reporting requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Psychologists, overseeing the provision of high-quality, sensitive psychological services for individuals and groups, including survivors of SGBV, PTSD and torture. The Mental Health Trainer and Supervisor will oversee and ensure the quality and effectiveness of psychosocial service provision.

Education and/or Experience: Experienced Psychologist with relevant degree qualification, preferably with a Masters in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology. Demonstrated experience with survivors of SGBV, PTSD, and torture and sensitivity to LGBTI issues required. Experience with immigrant and refugee populations preferred. Ability to lead teams and mentor staff and other individuals.
Language Skills: Must have written and spoken fluency in English and Arabic or French.
Communication Skills: Strong coaching and training skills; ability to create and sustain a positive team dynamic. Listens and gets clarification, responds well to questions and feedback, participates in meetings, effectively communicate utilizing a variety of technologies such as phone or video phone (i.e. Skype), writes clearly and informatively, and edits work for spelling and grammar.
