Protection officer

• Provide guidance to partner staff on the implementation of the monitoring and vulnerability assessment tools.

• Support the implementation of protection activities and promote stronger awareness of old age programming.

• Conduct field monitoring visits and propose recommendations and corrective measures as necessary.

• Support and facilitate the participation of older people and other stakeholders in monitoring and evaluation processes in order to improve organisational accountability to all stakeholders.

• Advise on resource allocation requirements (human and financial) necessary to mainstream protection in the long term.

• Contribute to effective supply, analysis and management of evidence and data emerging from project experience and feed this back into future programming/projects and advocacy messages.

• Contribute to the capacity building of partner staff on protection related old age programming.

• Advise on lessons sharing methods at programme, national and international levels to promote learning across the project and contribute to an overall impact assessment framework.

• Attend protection related meetings as necessary.

• Undertake any other duties as and when necessary to fulfil the objectives of the post and of HelpAge International.

• Undertake any other duties assigned by the health coordinator in Lebanon and/or the regional head of programs.

Qualifications, Experiences and skills:
- BA. Degree in Social sciences; health sciences; psychology; International relations and law; International Development: Social Policy and Social Development or any related field
- A minimum of a 3 years of experience working within the humanitarian sectors.
- Programme management including design, monitoring and evaluation
- Advanced negotiation and communication skills
- Analytical and critical thinking
- Community development and mobilisation
- Good judgement and decision-making skills

Desired:
- Understanding of delivering humanitarian response in insecure environments.
- Experience across the entire project cycle from design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and in particular for projects and programs targeting vulnerable groups and those marginalized by mainstream services, such as refugees, older people and people living with disabilities.
- Previous experience in issues related to protection, gender based violence.
- Capacity development of field and HQ colleagues, local partners and national networks, through the provision of training, support and transfer of technical knowledge.
- Experience of team coordination
