- Create, update, and disseminate information sheet, animated videos, presentations, etc…, outlining purpose, functions, contact details and mechanisms, and other relevant information about the regional help desk, for circulation among a targeted group of users
- Determine appropriate communication forums and pathways for a regional community of practice in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
- Initiate and facilitate a community of practice for field-based Child Protection Coordination Group Members through communication channels, such as Facebook page, to create field-based networks and information sharing
- Provide individual technical support for coordinators and coordination group members as well as linkages with other coordinators or technical experts as needed
- In collaboration with the regional focal point, create and maintain a log of incoming requests; conduct analysis of the inquiries nature and present a bi-monthly narrative report & dashboard, highlighting key findings of requests to relevant stakeholders
- If longer term, more substantial support for a specific request is needed, liaise with your supervisor and Global Help Desk to determine a way forward, which may involve creating interim guidance and/or referring requests to the relevant Alliance Working Group or Task Force as applicable and follow-up as necessary
- Maintain a contact list of active potential child protection coordinators and information managers, coordination group members, and coordination structures within each country covered by the Help Desk
- Coordinate with the Global Help Desk for technical support and guidance
- Organize and maintain a “resource repository” of field-level examples and tools collected
- Create and disseminate a Child Protection Newsletter with relevant regional updates, new resources, upcoming trainings and webinars, trends and common themes within help desk requests, and other useful updates
- Participate in global or regional help desk meetings and/or trainings as needed
- Coordinate with the Global CP AoR and Help Desk on the 2018 Annual Survey to support on question design, dissemination, and analysis
- Contribute to Help Desk analysis by region by developing reports, graphs, etc… that compares trends and needs across regions and globally
Experience and Skills
• At least 5 years of experience in Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) programming or CPiE coordination or related fields.
• Experience of designing and delivering child protection- and/or CP Coordination-related training, particularly in humanitarian contexts, to interagency groups
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Fluency in English and Arabic (read, written, spoken)
• Excellent understanding of the humanitarian architecture at global and field level and the transformative agenda
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver results
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Research skills; resourceful
• Ability to work under pressure and difficult situations
• Established relationships with field based coordinators of child protection in several key emergency affected settings
• Experience coordinating child protection responses
• Experience leading or participating in a child protection rapid assessment in an emergency context
• Experience designing and implementing knowledge management initiatives for the humanitarian sector
• Experience in strategic planning, preferably in the area of capacity building.
• Experience working implementing child protection programs in an NGO
• Experience mentoring in a professional setting
• Familiarity with the work, working methods, and members of the CPWG
