  Ambulance Driver Handicap International DAM Programme North Lebanon Location: Toula, Batroun district.   Handicap International (HI) is an international solidarity organization headquartered in France (Lyon) taking specific actions in the field of disability, health and humanitarian demining in over 60 countries around the world. It is non-governmental, non-denominational, apolitical and non-profit organization. The Mine Action Program of Handicap International in Lebanon priority is improving the lives of people affected by mines and explosive remnants of war, and the creation of favorable conditions for socio-economic development. This by reducing the threat posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war in affected communities in northern Lebanon, according to the needs and priorities identified by the Lebanese Mine Action Center (LMAC).   Brief description of the post   The Ambulance Driver duties and responsibilities within HI humanitarian mine action programme in North Lebanon provinces are:   Drive the Handicap International ambulance -   Driving Handicap International vehicles in support of Field Operations including vehicles fitted with trailer’s and roof   rack’s; -   Ensuring vehicles, equipment and ancillaries are maintained in a clean and serviceable condition; -   Conduct a Daily, weekly and Monthly maintenance of vehicles, trailers and ancillaries, -   First parade checks to include: Check levels of Oil, Coolant, Windscreen wash, Power steering fluid, Brake fluid and Fuel; Adhere to all driving laws, regulations, and procedures including HI speed restrictions; -   Drive in a safe and defensive manner; -   Report any vehicle / equipment faults in a timely manner to the medical coordinator; -   Maintain accurate written records for the daily vehicle log (Mileage and fuel used etc) in accordance with HI procedures on a daily basis; -   Responsible for the safety and welfare of the staff in his vehicle and the equipment transported in the vehicle. Act as an ambulance/ safety vehicle driver where appropriate and be familiar with the duties required; -   Be fully conversant of the two casevac route’s to the nearest authorised hospital; -   Any other duties as required by the Para medic,  ensuring a high level of hygiene, clean accommodation areas/ working areas, welfare of the staff and sustaining high performance of all staff for the duration of the project; -   Act a radio man during the operational day for radio checks with the main op’s base.   Driving all other cars of HI upon request of management   General -   Work within the framework of HI’s core values -   Act as an ambassador for HI, through professionalism and conduct -   Adhere to all HI policies and procedures both Technical and Administrational -   Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training -   Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required     Candidates’ requirements Qualifications / Experience -    Driving license, -    Previous experience in demining activities rescue is a plus, however a full training will be provided. -     Experience with Lebanese Red Cross and similar NGOs are desirable. Health -     Good health and physically fit to the job needs. Languages -     Arabic, essential speaking and writing, English desirable but not essential. Personal qualities -    Adaptation to specific working conditions, -    Capacity to work in team and autonomously, -    Capacity to work in an multidisciplinary and multicultural team, -    Interest for humanitarian and field work,   Contract’s conditions Training Period -    Training allowance equivalent to 21 $ per trained day. -    The training will last until successful accreditation from the Lebanon Mine Action Center occurred After training -    Successful candidates will go on to full pay on completion of training/accreditation and security clearances, -     Wage of salary $ 800 to 850  based on HI salary scale, -     Package of advantages to be communicated, according to HI Specific Terms and Conditions of Engagement (e.g. social security, hazard allowance, etc.).
