Handicap International is a humanitarian and nongovernmental organization working in over 60 ‎countries around the world providing health and disability programmes as well as being involved ‎in humanitarian demining.‎In Lebanon North, Handicap International is engaged on demining activities in the region of ‎Batroun, and based out of Toula School. The project requires deminers to work within our ‎demining team on operations in the field. The deminer works under the direct supervision of the ‎Team Leader and under the overall management of the Chief of demining operations.‎ Main Tasks o Manual clearance of suspected mined areas as part of the mine clearance teamo Conduct demining drills and respect procedures in accordance with the Standard ‎Operating Procedures (SOP) ‎o Conduct minefield marking and area reduction operations in line with SOPo Ensure that all materials and equipments used are maintained in good conditiono Report any faults in equipment immediately to the Team Leadero Any other duties are required by the Team Leader Full training will be provided and the training will be in accordance with National and International ‎Mine Action Standards. A training allowance will be paid for trainees. Successful candidates will ‎go on to full pay on completion of training/accreditation and security clearances.‎ Qualifications - No qualifications of demining are required, full training will be given. Candidates ‎should hold a general education certificate.‎ Experience - No previous experience is required although it is desirable to have previous military ‎experience in an engineer unit.‎ Health - Ideally applicants should be in good health and physically fit as they may be required to ‎work in physically demanding locations.
