MISSION CONTEXT

The actual intervention context is characterized by remote management modalities of intervention, through Partners. Bring constant support and guidance to the teams and maintain technical quality in the frame of HI integrated approach is the main challenge to take up.

 

OBJECTIVES

Under the responsibility of the Health Projects Manager, the Mental Health Psychosocial Support Technical Adviser (MHPSS TA) will be responsible for the MHPSS activities implemented by partners.

The MHPSS TA must keep all the data confidential, and share it only with the designated persons.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Line manager: Health Projects Manager (PM)

Line manager+1: Area Coordinator

Technical management: MHPSS Technical Coordinator at Coordination office

In coordination with: Program and Technical team based in Amman

 

MAIN TASKS

  1. Technical Support: Provide technical support to partners
    • Assess the technical level and capacities related to PSS in Rehab, MHPSS Standalone (SA) or PSS in Livelihood (LVH) of current and potential partners;
    • Work with the PSS and MHPSS SA teams to identify their key learning needs and design a professional development plan;
    • Provide technical support to partners through direct training sessions and by developing distance learning tools;
    • Provide weekly clinical support discussions with local PSS supervisors or provide direct supervision, also remotely;
    • Identify possible solutions and technical resources to address the issues faced by the teams in the field;
    • Analyse beneficiary and group files and data to understand needs of the beneficiaries and partner staff;
    • Design technical tools, group and session plans with input from partners;
    • Organisation and facilitation of trainings
  2. Reporting: Ensure the MHPSS activities are implemented and reported in line with HI strategy
    • Development and updates of technical tools according to the needs;
    • Ensure the translation and implementation of all MHPSS tools and processes;
    • Monthly follow up of partner reporting, monitoring and evaluation in coordination with program teams;
    • Contribute to any internal and external project monitoring mission or project evaluation;
  3. Strategy development: Design and implement the operational framework in link with program and technical coordinators
    • Designing the different MHPSS activities, strategy and operational framework in collaboration with Technical Unit and programs;
    • Identify possibilities to extend the different MHPSS activities within HI strategy;
    • Contribute to proposal writing and reporting by inputs concerning the MHPSS needs and response;
    • Participate into mission cross cutting thematic work groups as per PM or Technical Coordinator’s request;
    • Participate in strategic planning exercises of the mission as per PM or Technical Coordinator’s request;
  4. Capitalization: Produce regular reports on activities and documents to ensure the capitalization of the project
    • Provide monthly activity reports to the PM and Technical Coordinator, and specific information or inputs upon request of line Manager (external reporting, workshops);
    • Participate to the monthly situation report (SITREP) by providing relevant data and qualitative information related to the position and provide a technical report on a monthly basis to the Technical Coordinator;
    • Participate in the analysis of Monitoring and Evaluation data;
    • Contribute to the Inter-Hub meetings by documentation of MHPSS activities and sharing tools with other Technical Advisers;
  5. Representation
    • Upon request by the PM or the Technical Coordinator, represent Humanity & Inclusion on issues related to MHPSS in the projects areas with any relevant stakeholders, local, national and international partners;
  6. Self-Care Stratgy
    • Plan a self-care strategy jointly with HI staff care specialist for staff working in the field in contact with beneficiaries or difficult situations;

Note that this job description must remain flexible, to respond to additional tasks or changes as identified by the line manager.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • Master Psychology degree or equivalent master degree with relevant experience
  • At least 4 years of professional experience working as Psychologist
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as technical support to MH/PSS activities in humanitarian interventions
  • Experience in MH/PSS during emergency, preferably with Humanity & Inclusion

 

Professional and Personal Skills:

  • Ability and willingness to train a counterpart on technical supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skiils
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to work under high pressure and without constant supervision
  • High level of motivation and proactivity
  • Strong organizational skills;

 

Computer Skills:

  • Strong computer skills (use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other relevant software);

 

Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written English is compulsory;
  • Fluency in oral and written Arabic is compulsory;
  • French would be an asset

 

JOB CONDITIONS

  • Remuneration: according to HI salary grid and experience
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
  • Duration/ Type of contract: 6 months renewable based on a project timeline and performance
  • Others: Health insurance
