OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Shelter Project Officer, the Shelter Worker is responsible for implementing the Shelter Rehabilitation component of HI’s Shelter response.
Responsibilities
Responsibility 1: Under the Shelter officer’s supervision, the Shelter Worker conducts the assessment of shelter damages accompanied by a Social worker
Activities:
- Conduct damage assessments of shelters
- Share assessment results with Shelter officer and MEAL team
- Conduct a second shelter visit if the HH fits eligibility criteria for Shelter rehabilitation
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BoQ), technical specs and drawings, take photos
Responsibility 2: Implementation of the rehabilitation of shelters component of HI’s Shelter response; supervision of works, reporting and team collaboration
Activities:
- Supervise the rehabilitation works on a regular basis until completion of works
- Ensure internal standards and guidelines are respected
- Fill daily with precision the internal reporting tools (weekly report) and any other reports to be made upon line manager request
Note that this job description must remain flexible, to respond to additional tasks or changes as identified by the line manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree in Engineering, Architecture or related degree
- At least 2 years of professional experience in the related field with preference with NGO.
- Demonstrate good understanding of social issues.
- Understanding of a comprehensive approach on disability and vulnerability.
- Proven coordination skills to work with a diverse network of actors, including the public authorities, in a diplomatic manner.
- Good report writing skills.
- Demonstrated effective communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to relate to the target group (be approachable, shows empathy).
- English and Arabic mandatory (oral and written), French would be an asset.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Strong computer skills - proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel and computer-aided design (CAD) softwares
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and in a multidisciplinary teamwork
- Ability to work under high pressure with a great level of personal organization

- Team spirit

Basic salary range for the position : The Shelter worker is going to be paid according to HI salary Grid and based on the candidate experience.
Basic Salary range between USD 1330 – USD 1750
