humedica has been operating in Lebanon since 2012, and is currently funded by the German Foreign Office. humedica is running two Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), serving approximately 30 informal tented settlements (ITS) in the Bekaa valley, providing free primary health care and medication for Syrian refugees. In addition, humedica is supporting Primary Health Care Centers (PCHs) (under the administration of Ministry of Public Health) for both, Lebanese and Syrian patients. MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Medical consultation for common acute illnesses and dispensing acute medications. Provide diagnosis and counselling to each patient and determining and take responsibility for follow up care needed. Treatment of uncomplicated infectious diseases (diarrhea, dysentery and STI etc.). Identify potentials of communicable disease outbreaks. Initial medical consultation and treatment for chronic diseases, referral to partner organization Medical Teams International (MTI). Awareness and knowledge of referral options and pathways. Health promotion on health services available in the PHC centers and hospitals. Stabilization services of emergency health conditions and immediate referrals to nearest PHC centers or hospitals after stabilization. Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (correctly fill in patient files, forms, statistics, reports). Other task my evolve over time. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Qualified Medical Doctor and license to practice in Lebanon Experience working with NGOs is helpful, but not mandatory High motivation for challenging and complex tasks and good common sense Strong skills in communication, mediation and cooperation Ability to cope with difficult security context Ability to work as part of a team and participate in all activities of the MMU Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment Flexibility, reliability Fluent Arabic and good English language skills are mandatory Female doctors are encouraged to apply CONDITIONS OF ENGAGEMENT: Post based in the humedica MMU in Zahle and Central Bekaa. With your team (doctor, pharmacist, field officer), you will visit one to two different tented settlements each day. This is a 80% position, Monday to Thursday, from 8:30am to 17:00pm.
