Mental Health Officer is responsible for running the mental health project at humedica through close collaborate with the mental health care providers (psychologist, psychiatric, and social workers) at the health center (PHC) to ensure the treatment of beneficiaries of all nationalities suffering from mild, moderate or severe psychiatric and mental health disorders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide psychotherapy through evidence-based approaches to beneficiaries of different age groups, nationalities, and gender who cannot reach PHC.
- Support in the integration of mental health services to the health centers
- Monitor the quality of services provided by humedica’s MH component (psychologists, psychiatrist and social workers) and suggest improvements accordingly
- Oversee and organize the work of psychologists, psychiatrists, MHGAP General Practitioners (GPs) and social workers
- Provide technical supervision through mentorship to PHC staff trained on MhGAP to ensure appropriate assessments of beneficiaries and referrals to appropriate care
- Ensure the utilization and implementation of measuring tools to assess success of MHPSS activities and related trainings in accordance with indicators of program.
- Conduct monthly meetings with the mental health care providers at the health centres (HC)
- Ensure the implementation of common ethical and legal standards in mental health provision
- Receive referrals from Community Health Volunteers, colleagues and other organization and link person of concern to the needed service supported by humedica
- Refer cases based on their needs to other organizations for specialized services
- Develop, facilitate and organize capacity building workshops for PHC staff on mental health topic
- Train Community Health Volunteers on different mental health topics including safe identification and referral; psychological first aid…etc
- Support in developing educational materials on mental health topics
- Define the needs in materials and tools regarding the program and the planning of interventions
- Ensure that the most effective data collecting and reporting processes are in place, in accordance with the MoPH database and reporting system, and in accordance with the project activities
- Monitor records kept by psychologists and psychiatric to ensure proper documentation
- Conduct systematic phone calls to beneficiaries to ensure patient satisfaction
- Submit comprehensive weekly and monthly reports
- Review all reports, administrative papers and financial documents prepared by the social workers and ensure reports are submitted to Area Coordinator in a timely manner
- Attend meetings and trainings as assigned by Area Coordinator
- Conduct bilateral meetings with MH actors in humedica’s operational areas in Bekaa to ensure complementarity in service provision and prevent duplication

Post is based in the humedica office in Zahle, Central Bekaa. The employee will spend 75% of the time in the health facilities and camps.
Skills:
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are essential
- Working experience in the supervision of mental health activities
- Work experience minimum 2-3 years in relevant field
- Previous working experience with INGO is a must
