Midwife For Mobile Medical Unit (Mmu)

humedica is working with one MMU (mobile medical unit) in 35 informal tented settlements in Central Bekaa, providing primary health care to Syrian refugees. Tasks and Responsibilities Monitoring and examination of women during pregnancy Ante-natal care for pregnant women and referral of high risks pregnancies to the nearest PHC centres for specialist cares, laboratory investigations and ultrasounds. Provide information of supported hospitals for delivery in order to make delivery plan by the pregnant mothers.  Family planning services (oral and injectable contraceptives and condoms) and referral to PHC for IUD insertion. Growth monitoring among under 5 children. Nutritional assessment (MUAC, weight for age). The malnourished cases identified in MMU will be referred to designated PHC centres supported by IOCC for detailed nutritional assessment and treatment by trained health personnel. Health promotion on health services available in the PHC clinics and hospitals. Awareness and knowledge of referral options and pathways Arranging and providing parenting and health education for the woman, her partner and family Instruct on how to deliver daily care for the baby, including breast feeding, bathing Perform case management including delivering medications and providing relevant explanations to the patients Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (correctly fill in patient files, forms, statistics, reports) Ensure a relevant transfer of information   CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Starting: 1st March 2014 Contract: Employee – Fixed term contract Full time, working hours: 8.30 – 5.30, one hour lunch break Post based in the humedica MMU in Zahle and Central Bekaa. With your team (GP, midwife, nurse, referral and MMU assistant), you will visit a different tented settlement each day. Each settlement is visited once per month. Requirements: Work experience: 5 - 10 years Experience working with NGO is helpful, but not mandatory. High Motivation for challenging and complex task and good common sense Strong skills in communication, mediation and cooperation Ability to cope with difficult security context. To be able to work as part of a team and participate in all activities of the MMU To be able and willing to work in a multi-cultural environment.
