Psychosocial Support (PSS) and Group Mental Health Awareness Facilitator

Position Summary

The PSS and Group Mental Health Awareness Facilitator will be responsible for planning, facilitating, and evaluating group sessions aimed at enhancing mental health awareness and providing psychosocial support to individuals and communities. The facilitator will use evidence-based methodologies to deliver impactful sessions tailored to the needs of the participants while fostering a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Session Facilitation

  • Plan and conduct group mental health awareness and PSS sessions in alignment with program objectives.
  • Use participatory and culturally sensitive techniques to engage participants.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment that encourages open dialogue and interaction.

Needs Assessment and Planning

  • Assess the psychosocial and mental health needs of target groups.
  • Design session content and materials based on identified needs and program guidelines.
  • Adapt approaches and activities to meet the specific needs of diverse groups, including vulnerable populations.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of sessions, including attendance, observations, and feedback from participants.
  • Monitor participant progress and the effectiveness of sessions, adapting methods as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on activities, challenges, and outcomes to the program team.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with social workers, psychologists, and other team members to ensure the holistic delivery of services.
  • Coordinate with local partners, community leaders, and other stakeholders to maximize outreach and impact.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in facilitating PSS or mental health awareness activities.
  • Strong understanding of psychosocial support principles and mental health concepts.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including children, older adults, or displaced individuals.
  • Fluency in [Specify Required Languages].

Desirable:

  • Experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
  • Knowledge of group facilitation techniques and adult learning principles.
  • Certification in PSS facilitation or mental health first aid is an asset.
