Ranger - Ammiq Wetland

1.Background

IndyACT is a regional environmental non-governmental organization that works to protect nature and address climate change through policy support, community engagement, and strategic partnerships. Its work focuses on biodiversity, coastal and wetland ecosystems, and sustainable agriculture, in collaboration with international organizations and local institutions. IndyACT has signed a co-management agreement for the Ammiq Wetland with the Skaff Estate, owners of the wetland.

IndyACT is a partner of Istituto Oikos, Italian NGO, that signed a Contract with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, AICS, for the realization of the project CARE AID 013244/05/1: Combating climate change through regenerative Agriculture, water Resources conservation, and Financial Education. As part of this project, IndyACT is hiring two Rangers to support the Skaff Estate staff in the daily conservation work of the wetland.

The selected candidates will be part of a project that aims to preserve the ecological integrity of the Aammiq wetland ecosystem and the extensive surrounding agricultural area through the introduction of innovative agricultural solutions, environmental restoratiosn measures, ongoing biodiversity monitoring, extensive awareness campaigns, and financial inclusion initiatives in order to facilitate the access to credit to farmers committed to the change into a regenerative agriculture model.

2. Required Qualifications

We are seeking two highly motivated individuals with a solid multitasking approach, possibly with a background in the environmental and/or in the sustainable agriculture sectors, and with the following characteristics:

1. Good knowledge of the Ammiq Wetland ecosystem and its surrounding areas.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with project’s stakeholders such as local communities and authorities, researchers and students, volunteers, and visitors.
3. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
4. Completed elementary education.
5. Basic knowledge of the English language.
6. Driving license.
7. Residence in or near the Ammiq area is considered an advantage.

3. Duties and Responsibilities

The Rangers will operate in a continuous coordination with and will report to the Wetland Manager as well as to the IndyACT Programs Manager, and they will be expected to:

1. Support together with all the staff, the conservation and sustainable management of the biodiversity within the Ammiq Wetland.
2. Maintain positive relations with stakeholders, decision-makers, local authorities, researchers, volunteers, visitors and other workers.
3. With the aim of ensuring the site’s ecological integrity and visitor compliance, the rangers will conduct regular patrols and monitoring visits to the wetland. Any detected environmental violations will be recorded and reported on time, and they will intervene when necessary to enforce protection rules. Unresolved or repeated violations will be reported to the Wetland Manager or designated authority.
4. Daily field reports including observations, risks, and notable changes in biodiversity will be also regularly submitted to the Wetland Manager or IndyACT.
5. 6. Attend training workshops as requested by the Wetland Manager or IndyACT.
7. Participate in exchange visits to other wetlands or protected areas when scheduled by Wetland Manager and/or project partners.
8. Assist in organizing and maintaining documentation relevant to the wetland.
9. Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of field tools, monitoring equipment, and any gear used in conservation activities.
10. Report damage or malfunctions to the Reserve Manager promptly to avoid disruption of field work.
11. Perform biodiversity and socio-economic conservation tasks as assigned.
12. Act with integrity, diligence, and a spirit of cooperation toward all team members. Comply with Ammiq Reserve codes of ethics and conduct and the PSEA of Istituto Oikos.

4. Remuneration

1. The monthly salary for this position is USD 500.

وقد وقّعت  IndyACT  اتفاقية إدارة مشتركة لمحمية عمّيق مع مـلكية سـكاف، المالكة للمحمية.

IndyACT هي شريك لمنظمة Istituto Oikos الإيطالية، التي وقّعت عقداً مع الوكالة الإيطالية للتعاون الإنمائي AICS لتنفيذ مشروع CARE AID 013244/05/1 بعنوان: "مكافحة تغيّر المناخ من خلال الزراعة التجديدية، الحفاظ على الموارد المائية، والتثقيف المالي” CARE”. . وفي إطار هذا المشروع، تقوم IndyACT   بتوظيف حارسين لدعم فريق عمل ملكية سكاّف في أعمال الحماية اليومية للمحمية.

سيكون المرشحون المختارون جزءاً من مشروع يهدف إلى الحفاظ على السلامة البيئية للنظام الإيكولوجي في المحمية في عمّيق والمناطق الزراعية الواسعة المحيطة بها، وذلك من خلال إدخال حلول زراعية مبتكرة، وتنفيذ إجراءات لترميم البيئة، ومراقبة مستمرة للتنوع البيولوجي، وحملات توعية واسعة النطاق، إضافةً إلى مبادرات الشمول المالي التي تُمكّن المزارعين الملتزمين بالتحوّل إلى نموذج الزراعة التجديدية من الحصول على التمويل..

2. المؤهلات المطلوبة

نبحث عن شخصين بدافع قوي والقدرة على أداء مهام متعددة بكفاءة، ويفضَّل أن يكون لديهما خلفية في مجالي البيئة و/أو الزراعة المستدامة، مع توافر المؤهلات والصفات التالية:

1. معرفة جيدة بالنظام الإيكولوجي للمحمية في عمّيق والمناطق المحيطة بها.
2. مهارات قوية في التواصل والتعامل مع الآخرين، خصوصاً مع أصحاب المصلحة في المشروع مثل المجتمعات المحلية والسلطات، والباحثين والطلاب، والمتطوعين والزوار.
3. القدرة على العمل بروح الفريق ضمن فريق متعدد التخصصات.
4. إتمام المرحلة الابتدائية على الأقل.
5. معرفة أساسية باللغة الإنجليزية.
6. رخصة قيادة سارية المفعول.
7. الإقامة في منطقة عمّيق أو بالقرب منها تعتبر ميزة إضافية.

3. المهام والمسؤوليات

سيعمل الحارسان بتنسيق مستمر، ويرفعان تقاريرهما إلى كل من مدير المحمية في عمّيق ومدير البرامج في منظمة IndyACT، ويتوقع منهما القيام بما يلي:

1. المساهمة مع جميع أفراد الفريق، في حماية التنوع البيولوجي وإدارته بشكل مستدام داخل محمية عميق.
2. الحفاظ على علاقات إيجابية مع أصحاب المصلحة، وصانعي القرار، والسلطات المحلية، والباحثين، والمتطوعين، والزوار، وسائر العاملين.
3. من أجل ضمان سلامة الموقع البيئية والتزام الزوار بالتعليمات، يقوم الحارسان بجولات ودوريات ميدانية منتظمة داخل المحمية. ويتم تسجيل أي مخالفات بيئية يتم رصدها والإبلاغ عنها في الوقت المناسب، والتدخل عند الضرورة لتطبيق قواعد الحماية. وفي حال تكرار المخالفات أو عدم حلّها، يتم رفعها إلى مدير المحمية أو الجهة المخوّلة.
4. تقديم تقارير ميدانية يومية تتضمن الملاحظات والمخاطر وأي تغيّرات بارزة في التنوع البيولوجي، ورفعها بانتظام إلى مدير المحمية أو إلى IndyACT.
5. تقديم معلومات تعريفية وتعليمية عن المحمية للزوار والمهتمين.
6. حضور ورش العمل التدريبية التي يطلبها مدير المحميـة أو IndyACT .
7. المشاركة في الزيارات التبادلية إلى محميات أو مناطق محمية أخرى، وفق ما يحدده مدير المحمية و/أو شركاء المشروع.
8. المساعدة في تنظيم وحفظ الوثائق والمستندات ذات الصلة بالمحمية.
9. ضمان الاستخدام السليم وصيانة وحفظ الأدوات الميدانية، وأجهزة المراقبة، وأي معدات تُستخدم في أنشطة الحماية.
10. الإبلاغ الفوري عن أي أضرار أو أعطال لمدير المحمية لتفادي تعطيل العمل الميداني.
11. تنفيذ المهام المتعلقة بحماية التنوع البيولوجي والجوانب الاجتماعية–الاقتصادية، وفق ما يتم تكليفه به.
12. التحلّي بالنزاهة، والجدية، وروح التعاون مع جميع أعضاء الفريق، والالتزام بمدوّنة السلوك والأخلاقيات الخاصة بمحمية عمّيق، وبسياسة الحماية من الاستغلال والاعتداء الجنسي (PSEA) الصادرة عن منظمة Istituto Oikos' .

3. التعويضات المالية

1.  تبلغ قيمة الأجر الشـهـري لهذه الوظيفة 500 دولار أميركي.
2.  سيتم التواصل فقد مع المرشحين المدرجين في القائمة القصيرة.
3.  سـتـبدأ IndyACt بإجراء المقابـلات فور إسـتـلام الطلبات، مع الإحتفـاظ بحـقـها في إغـلاق عملية التوظيف بمجـرد إخـتـيار المرشـح المنـاسـب.
