IndyACT, the global league of independent environmental, cultural and social activists, is established to support individual activists and promote environmental and social activism as a way for a healthy and democratic society, especially among youth. The organization contributes to the development and the capacity development of NGOs and members of the community in the fight against environmental and social problems.
With the support of the DROSOS Foundation and the Museum of Zurich, IndyACT is implementing a project entitled “Out to Sea? The Plastic Garbage Project”
It aims at raising the concern and understanding on the waste problems, targeting mainly the school students and the Lebanese public through the organization of a cultural and innovative exhibition - Starting November 27, 2014 till February 27, 2015 - that traces the history and the story of plastics from their disposal to the corrective measures and practices that need to be advised for the beneficiaries, the visitors.
Cultural events and discussion panels will also be planned to mobilize the young visitors on important issues related to the sustainable measures for the management of plastic waste.
For this project to be successful, IndyACT will be seeking partnerships with different Lebanese NGOs, to reach a wider public and involve the Civil Society.
During the month of August, a “Plastic Collection Campaign” will be held in order to raise public awareness about the project in addition to collecting the amount of plastic waste washed from the see and needed for the exhibition. We would welcome your participation in this campaign as it can guarantee its success.
In addition, IndyACT will be giving you the opportunity to participate in different discussion panels, conferences and other events concerning plastic waste management, its reuse and its effects on our everyday lives and on the environment.
