Terms of Reference (TOR) – Chef

Project: Increasing Resilience of Crisis Affected Women and Girls in Tyre (Sour) through comprehensive Livelihood and Protection Services.

1.Objective: The Chef Consultant will play a vital role in training and overseeing the work of Cash for Work (CFW) individuals in the community kitchen. The project aims to improve food security and nutrition for crisis-affected vulnerable families in the Tyre area. The project aims to address the immediate and long-term needs of vulnerable families in Tyre-South Lebanon through a holistic approach that focuses on the safety, well-being, and empowerment of women and girls.

2. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver training sessions for Cash for Work(CFW) individuals on cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen hygiene.
  • Supervise and mentor Cash for Work(CFW) individuals in the kitchen to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and to high standards.
  • Monitor kitchen operations to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Work closely with the nutritionist to ensure meals are nutritious and meet dietary requirements.
  • Provide regular feedback and guidance to Cash for Work(CFW) individuals to enhance their cooking skills.
  • Work closely with the kitchen manager.

3. Key Deliverables:

  • Regular supervision and monitoring of kitchen operations.
  • Reports on kitchen performance and recommendations for improvement.

4. Qualifications:

  • Professional chef with formal training in culinary arts.
  • At least 5 years of experience in culinary management, preferably in a large-scale kitchen or catering setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Experience in training and mentoring staff.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.

5. Reporting

  • Report to the kitchen manager.
  • Provide regular updates on kitchen operations and staff performance.

6. Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with the Project Coordinator, kitchen staff, and other project staff.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation.

Duration and Location:

  • Part-time position, a 9-month contract position based in Tyre, Lebanon.
