Attacks on Health Care in Lebanon: 16-29 October 2024

Insecurity Insight identified 194 incidents of violence against or obstruction of health care in Lebanon between 08 October 2023 and 27 October 2024. In these incidents, health facilities were damaged or destroyed on 75 occasions. All of these reported 75 incidents involved the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) using explosive weapons, including drone and plane strikes, artillery and shelling, damaging clinics, health centres, hospitals and pharmacies. Additionally, at least 95 health workers were killed and 56 injured within these facilities during the bombings. Damage or destruction to health facilities was documented in six of Lebanon’s nine governorates with high numbers recorded in Lebanon’s southern Nabatieh governorate, followed by South governorate. Over three-quarters of the reported damage or destruction to health facilities took place during Israel's large-scale airstrikes on southern Lebanon and the Bekaa region, which began in September.
