The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) works to redress and prevent the most severe violations of human rights by confronting legacies of mass abuse. ICTJ seeks holistic solutions to promote accountability and create just and peaceful societies.
ICTJ Lebanon is currently seeking to recruit a Beirut-based Communications Expert to work on a project that aims at increasing consideration by policymakers of the needs and expectations of people in Lebanon on matters of justice and accountability and to develop options for dealing with the legacy of the past.
Duties:
1- Prepare a media and communication strategy in Arabic and in English to strengthen public and political support for the findings of three studies led by ICTJ and a policy paper of recommendations produced by ICTJ and a consortium composed of civil society organizations and academics. This will include both lobbying and advocacy strategies;
2- Facilitate contact with the media in preparation for two press conferences and other related events at which project publications will be presented and discussed;
3- Facilitate contact with policymakers in preparation for the policy paper;
4- Use of network to facilitate the development of a public debate on the topics presented in the publications, including but not limited to facilitating television and other media appearances by ICTJ staff and others as deemed relevant;
5- Work closely with ICTJ, create and send press releases in Arabic and in English in relation to the project publications.
The applicant is expected to have a strong interest in human rights, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
