Minimum required knowledge & experience:
Primary school level
4 years work experience in a similar function of which 2 years in ICRC
Good knowledge of spoken English
Driving license for at least 5 years
Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
Masters 4/4 and VHF use
Basic mechanical skills
Function description:
Drives different types of light ICRC vehicles by strictly following internal security and national traffic rules
Transports people and/or material
Checks equipment on attributed cars, Ensures proper fuelling and cleaning
Moves independently in difficult security environments
Trains and coaches new Drivers or Assumes specific administrative tasks
Specific Activities:
Security
Ÿ Informs radio room about time of departure and return to the base
Ÿ Makes sure that vehicle is parked in safe area all the time
Ÿ Is aware of, and reacts to the current security situation
Ÿ Respects ICRC internal security rules all times
Ÿ Respects the laws in general and traffic regulations in particular
Ÿ Use the security belt and oblige passenger to use it
Ÿ Drives only ICRC goods and personnel in ICRC vehicles unless instructed differently by superior
Ÿ Fills Waiver of responsibility when transporting non ICRC passenger
Ÿ Fills in relevant field trip and other form
Ÿ Avoids using mobile phones while driving and respects radio communication procedures
Ÿ Is aware of the rules concerning correct use of vehicle, and carriage of passengers and goods
Ÿ Acts as convoy leader when required
Driver and Dispatcher
Ÿ Drives in a manner that will not damage cargo
Ÿ When applicable, ensures that custom and ICRC seals are intact
Ÿ Is present at the loading and unloading of goods and confirms that the quantity corresponds with relevant documentation
Ÿ Is responsible for goods documentation
Ÿ At unloading presents documentation to the receiver of the goods to be signed and returns it to dispatcher
Ÿ Participates in loading and unloading if needed.
Ÿ Drives in safe, responsible and accident free manner
Ÿ Adapts the way of driving to the weather and road conditions
Ÿ Reports vehicle accidents immediately using appropriate forms (including minor scratches)
Ÿ Checks the mechanical condition of the vehicle before the trip: fluid levels, wheels, tires, lights, inspects for eventual leaking of fuel and oil
Ÿ On each handover and once a week checks vehicle equipment
Ÿ Maintains the vehicle interior clean at all times
Ÿ Is able to change tire, bulb and to make small repair on the road if needed
Ÿ Is responsible for equipment, tools, chains, spare tires placed in the vehicle and reports any changes to dispatcher
Ÿ Assists driver colleagues in case of breakdown
Ÿ Check that all vehicle documentation are correct and on board, as well as non-filled Waiver of Responsibility and Handover form.
Ÿ Performs any other activities upon request of immediate supervisor
Ÿ When required, acts as translator/FO for the delegate
Ÿ Flexibility and willingness to work irregular schedules
Dispatch
Ÿ Organizes vehicles according to field requirements and is the sub-delegation vehicle dispatcher
Ÿ Manages the team of drivers for the sub-delegation
Ÿ Acts as the focal point for all fleet issues between the sub delegation and fleet_BEY
Ÿ Informs fleet/BEY about service, maintenance and other possible repairs needed at least 3 days in advance
Ÿ Manages fuel procurement for the sub-delegation
Ÿ Ensures winter preparations are in place for the fleet
