Ecosec field officer
Responsibilities and tasks:
- The EcoSec program responds to food and non-food needs of those who fled armed conflicts within the borders of Lebanon. The EcoSec program in South Lebanon responds to needs of victims of conflict with relief and livelihood programs in South Lebanon and Nabatiyeh Governorates.
- As part of the EcoSec Department, contributes to the general knowledge of the Delegation about IDPs and people affected by the conflicts in Syria matter and humanitarian consequences and needs of their families
- Contributes to the global understanding and analysis of the humanitarian environment, (including security, socio-economic/cultural/political environment, etc.)
- Reports events and changes within the region that could have an impact on ICRC activities and hence provides sound elements to the delegation that allow to establish objectives and priorities
- Ensure coordination with other Field Officers when needed or required
- Ensure the flow of information to the direct supervisor, EcoSec Coordinator and the other EcoSec field officer
- Knows and follows the ICRC’s and other relevant international standards applicable to people affected by conflicts
- Contributing to the assessment, organization and implementation of in-kind assistance / Cash Transfer Programs / Livelihoods interventions under the direct management of the HoSD in Tyr Sub-delegation and EcoSec coordinator based in BEY.
- Participates in field assessments, post-distribution monitoring and evaluation of all EcoSec interventions, using existing information collection tools and reporting templates.
- Contributes to identifying, assessing and negotiating operational partnerships with local NGOs, Municipalities, cooperatives, etc. for the joint implementation of livelihoods interventions in favour of Lebanese returnees / Syrian refugees / Palestinian refugees and their host communities.
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
High school or professional diploma
3 - 5 years work experience in a similar field
Good knowledge of written and spoken English
Good computer skills
Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment
Good analytical skills
Standard function description:
Runs field activities for specific sectors
Maintains contacts with authorities at municipal degree, local Red Cross Branches, population, suppliers, etc. under supervision
Presents the ICRC principles, mandate and activities to interlocutors and beneficiaries
Plans and organises field trips
