First Aid Field Officer

The First Aid (FA) Field Officer (FO) is in charge of providing First Aid Training (FAT) to targeted audiences (principally to designated Palestinian camps, Lebanese Armed Forces, communities), in order to improve the evacuation process for the wounded as established by the PfR objectives. The FA FO continuously assesses the need in terms of FA within the scope of the ICRC operations, and develops or adapts the FA project accordingly. Standard function description:    Focal person for the FA activities developed in LBN Ÿ  Assists the Health Delegates in running FA field activities Ÿ  Maintains contacts with local Red Cross Branches, PRCS_L for activities related to FA, EMS, LAF Ÿ  Presents the ICRC principles, mandate and activities to interlocutors and beneficiaries Ÿ  Plans and organises FA activities Ÿ  Reports to the Deputy Health Coordinator    Minimum required knowledge & experience:  High school or professional diploma Ÿ Trainer in First Aid Ÿ 3 - 5 years work experience in a similar field Ÿ Good knowledge of written and spoken English Ÿ Good computer skills Ÿ Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment Ÿ Good analytical skills Ÿ  Main responsibilities o In collaboration with the regional FO, keeps and develops a network of interlocutors involved in FA, ambulances and medical emergency services provision, in order for the delegation to update its understanding/knowledge about the FA thematic; o Assesses and analyses the evacuation process of the wounded amongst the targeted audiences in order to provide tailored FA training and assistance; Provides theoretical and practical FAT to designated audiences (civilians, arm carriers, LAF etc…), including basic dissemination (Movement & IHL) and HCiD messages, and ensures good pedagogic methodology and proper refresher training after 6 months; Encourages an active participation of all counterparts during the FA activities to develop their sustainability over time. Organises follow-up of FA activities (e.g. refresher training, simulations)
