Forensic Field Officer

ICRC forensic activities in Lebanon provide support to the authorities to build capacity for a humanitarian management of the dead, and toward clarifying the fate of missing persons from the Civil War. Several on-going projects focus on the data collection and treatment related to missing persons, and training to the stakeholders involved in forensic operations in the country. The new position of Forensic Field Officer will assist the National Forensic Advisor on the different programs, with an emphasis on the management of the dead file (including networking, training, redaction of standard operating procedures, etc.). Minimum required knowledge & experience: · Forensic practitioner holding a Masters’ degree or equivalent in forensic sciences; · Proven experience of more than 3 years in forensics, including case-work where possible; · Forensic dissemination experience and capacity to adapt the message to diverse audiences; · Understanding of humanitarian principles and actions; · Very good knowledge of written and spoken Arabic and English; · Very good computer literacy; · Confirmed capacity to work independently; · Very high organizational skills; · Capacity to adhere to and implement procedures; · Good communication and negotiation skills; · Good rigor, method and analytical skills. 　 Standard function description: In her/his role as a Forensic field officer, assists the ICRC in the implementation of forensic programs/activities in Lebanon, with a view to reaching the objectives set within the delegation's PFR. The Forensic field officer is part of the forensic team within the delegation. She/he assists the Regional Forensic Coordinator in formulating program/project policies/proposals and helps ensure the integration of the ICRC forensic programs within the delegation. When required, she/he represents the ICRC towards external interlocutors as well as in various for a relevant to his/her responsibilities and tasks.
