1. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES
Serves as a member of the Infection Control Committee
Is responsible for the management of the Hospital and Postop Center functions in relation to the surveillance, prevention and control of nosocomial infections
Is responsible for collection of data about nosocomial infection through regular rounds to the patient wards
Assists in surveillance, analysis, and reporting of nosocomial infections and assisting in educating employees about infection control measures.
Compiles information on epidemiologically significant organisms and nosocomial infection data from monthly reports to the committee
Reviews patient records, microbiology reports and admission reports to ensure proper reporting, precautions and other control measures
Prepares narrative and statistical reports
Reports to the Infectious Diseases Consultant and is responsible for implementation of recommendations and protocols
Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures related to infection control practices and standards
Provides informal education to nursing staff for reinforcing established infection prevention and control measures
Participates in educational programs for the prevention and control of infection for all relevant staff
Maintains a close liaison with the Head Nurse to monitor infections and exposures among the staff, both occupational and non-occupational in nature
Supervises and advises and on isolation precautions.
Works with the Surgical Team to identify, investigate outbreak of infections
Abides by ICRC policies and procedures
