Medical Doctor
As a general medical practitioner, the Medical Doctor will participate in setting medical/clinical procedures and protocols. Assists the Regional Primary Health Care (PHC) program manager / Health coordinator in assessing the needs of health facilities and hospitals to effectively respond to the health needs of the communities and in finding appropriate solutions. Drafts written report in relation to the health programs. Develops and maintains contact with authorities and other external interlocutors and beneficiaries. Present the ICRC principles, mandate and activities to interlocutors and beneficiaries and contributes to the analysis of the social, economic, political and cultural situation of the covered area and its humanitarian consequences.
Main responsibilities
Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of PHC activities in the area of responsibility
Follows up on program implementation together with the Health Delegate, focusing on hard to reach areas
Is responsible of technical support to the PHC supported by the ICRC, particularly in hard to reach areas, to ensure quality of care and compliance with national and international standard protocols and guidelines (for mother and child health, and for curative care for communicable and non-communicable diseases)
Regular visits to the ICRC supported hospitals to monitor supply deliveries, provide support and discuss technical and administrative issues, including data collection and analysis with the relevant staff
Ensures that the standard national and international protocols and hospital guidelines (clinical, nursing, sterilization, etc) are implemented in the supported hospitals
Facilitates or provides technical support to the hospital staff to ensure quality of care.
Profile
Medical Doctor (Generalist)
MPH (Master in Public Health ) or equivalent an asset
4-6 years’ work experience in a similar field
Arabic native speaker
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
Very good computer skills, including spreadsheets
Excellent knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
Very good analytical skills
Team leadership skills, including coaching and supervision
